I had the same problem
What I did was:
1. click on "tools"
2. then click on "Audio and Video setup"
3. follow the setup exactly
4. when you get to the video setup click on the name of your webcam from the drop down menu.
5. then finish the setup

You try uninstall driver of a4tech to add / remove programs you go to control panel you open add / remove programs then you wait till all the programs comes out then if you see the program or driver of a4tech in the programs list just clik then wait for the instruction remove this program or uninstall this program then if you like to uninstall just choose uninstall or remove which ever then wait for the uninstalling process.
Sounds like you need to uninstall the camera software by going to add/remove programs in the control panel and reinstall. Some other program has stolen the drivers for your camera or the camera has associated itself with another program.
for this you can first uninstall the camera i mean go to start click on control pannel and then addremove programs , once you are there , uninstall the utility of camera , and restart the computer , once restarted reinstall the camera utility with the disc provided by the manufacturer. it will start working fine
hope this resolves the issue.
Uninstall the program again (installer). Try to reinstall the program with the webcam on it to be detected. When you use the cam on the Desktop, try to properly remove the device by clicking the task bar and exit. Wait for pop up instruction to remove the cam.
Try this... thanks
Firstly, it should have been installed without the webcam attached. If not done so then uninstall it from Control Panel->Add remove programs. Re boot and then with the webcam still detached, install the drivers and SW from the CD.
Reboot and then connect the webcam and allow Windows to detect and load its drivers. Then it would work properly after removing the lens cover.
Run the program that gets installed with the drivers and try to take a video, to be sure it works. Then you can configure the IM to use this camera as the default one.
I think this is a driver issue. So make sure that if for instance you have VISTA on your other system and it worked fine with vista whereas on the lappy you got XP and you expected it to work tough luck! You got to make sure that you installed the proper driver for the OS. If you do not have this on the CD which came with it go to the lifecam vx3000 site and downlaod the driver suitable for your OS.
If still no luck with this I think I know what might solve the issue
1. Uninstall the webcam driver (from control panel ... add / remove hardware find webcam and remove)
2. Uninstall yet another time MSN Messenger
3. Disable any other built in webcam that you might have on the laptop from the device manager as you didnt say if the laptop already has a webcam built in
4. Download tunieup utilities install trial and run registry cleaner ... clean the whole registry for 2 - 3 times until its perfectly clean. Install the new driver you just downloaded
5 . Reboot
6. Install MSN Messenger
I believe that you used an program from that disk whom now is trying to over take all the signals from the camera I bet you didnt uninstall 'em proper..and just delete 'em from where you find...so ..in this case...which I have met before with a program that allowed a minidv to work like a webcam ...I dont remember the name ...and the only thing that worked..it was to reinstal the operating system ...just save the files in the other partitions..and reinstall the OS and format the C partition during ..after that instal only the driver for the suitable os you will use...and it will work ...
try uninstalling the webcam and when installing don't have it pluged n till the inasallation has finished then plug in webcam and when pc finds new device just go throuh the wizards to find the device and reboot pc with device then try and using it if you can't see any thing with it you should get it replaced as the webcams come with programs so you can set it up properly.
