There is no telephone support available from You are welcome to post an issue as a premium support item, in which case you will receive responses through postings in an accelerated fashion. Alternatively, if you need live support, the best way to do that through the site is to use the Live Chat feature. Either way, the site states that there is no charge unless you are satisfied with the response and assistance you receive.

On another note, as I am online at this time, if you wish to pursue this directly with me, please feel free to choose me from the expert list (page 4 or 5, likely) - smartsolve - and if you post an "Ask Me" question, I will be notified by email and do my best to respond quickly.

I would also suggest including the information regarding your PC, OS, the drive you bought, and the issue you have. Thank you for using FixYa!

Removable disk wont respond

What type of removable disk? Are you talking about an External Hard Drive? Did it respond in the past? If so, maybe it has gone bad.

Try plugging it into another computer and see if it responds, if not, it's gone.

PC is not reading Cavalry external HDD anymore.

right click 'my computer'

click 'manage'

in the new window that appears look down the left side and you will see an entry called 'storage' the 3rd entry under this should be 'disk management' click on this

you should now see all the drives installed on the computer, choose the one you need and right click on it, then choose 'format' from the drop down list. follow any instructions.

If it does not format, then it could be a faulty drive, in which case return it to where you bought it.

Trying to use my new seagate external drive to save info from my desktop computer

If it was a retail version you bought, then it should have come with a disc and a manual.

If it didnt then go to Seagate's website and download the software and manual from there.

If you have it plugged in to the usb port and it is powered up, then really all you need to do is to click on 'my computer' and the drive will be shown in the Hard Disc Drive section, you can click on it and it will work exactly as your internal drive.

To move files to it, you can copy and paste, or right click on the file and use 'send to'

The software that, comes with the drive is normally backup software, so you can back up the contents of your main C:/ drive.

Hope this helps.

I want to upgrade from cd rw to dvd/cd rw

If you are looking to replace the internal drive, then as long as you purchase a drive with the same interface it will work. If you are looking for a USB external drive then any one will work.

The only thing Dell was correct with is it should have +/- signs.
