Question about Smeg Dishwashers

Open Question

I have a Smeg dishwasher SA660 EB. Still like new . Hardley used but have problems with the timer switch not progressing past 5 and also had the thermostat replaced as a loud bang heard and the machine did not work. Since warranty on repair run out it sounds like water is leaking around the thermostat through onto electrics as loud bang noise heard again . I found the thermostat just pushes up into the rubber seal in the bottom of the dishwasher. I have taken out the rubber seal as this also looked as if it was not water proof with the glue around it loose. Any ideas of a better seal system /thermostat . and how to place into 20 cent size hole in the bottom of the dishwasher. Thanks

SOURCE: Dishwasher tub leaks underneath

Hello. Anything is worth trying! But I would recommend epoxy. It works alot better with plastic and rubber items. Most of the leaks I have found in Kenmore machines are at the water pump. You may want to take a peek while it's running, just stay away from the wires!! Thanks!

SOURCE: Kitchenaid dishwasher making funny noises while running

HI. this sounds like a busted impeller in the pump housing. there are two impellers. one for the wash and one for the drain. the drive shaft will strip the impeller center nut, causing this noise. I would inspect the pump housing for lose impeller action. replace the faulty impeller if found to be damaged.

SOURCE: dishwasher leaking around the bottom of the door

I had the same problem in 2004, lots of Bosch trained repair techs, calls to Bosch, and the appliance dealer we purchased it from with no answers. Our kitchen cabinet bases were ruined by the flooding that occured. After months of trying to get help I insisted on speaking to a supervisor that told me it was my fault for putting a flexible cutting board on the right side a blocking the vent. I told her that no where in the manual did it mention this issue and none of their trained techs were aware of this flaw in their design. When I asked about getting my cabinets repaired she said that was not an option. When I mentioned possible legal action her response was "good luck with that". Here it is 2009 and they recently called about a possible fire hazard recall for the control panel. The Bosch trained tech that came out to complete the repair knew nothing about the vent/flooding issue.

SOURCE: Miele G646SC Plus dishwasher Drainage / inlet warning light

The main cause of problems like this that I have seen is where the sink drain is actually slightly clogged, and it is causing the diswasher water to back up, or for sink water to back up into the dishwasher. The drain line from the diswasher is supposed to run up as high as possible, or even go to an air-break valve, to reduce the problem.

Disconnect the power plug and check using a multimeter on the continuity of the HEATINGS ELEMENT/COILS. If open then the coils must be changed. If not there is fault in the circuit. Check the panel control switches or the relay contacts when activated as this can be faulty., specially the feed from the timer panel.

The washing cycle does no proceed automatically however it does so when the dial is manually advanced. What could be the problem and how to sort it?

Sounds like the drive inside the timer switch. There is a timer motor that causes the timer switch to progress through the stages. When you manually progress the timer, it is physically turned to the next position and the switches all work as designed; it's just that the motor is incapable of doing that job for you as it should.
You need a new timer.

You have a timer relay issue ,probable need a new board for it ,a cheap fix would be to time it and see how long it take to run full cycle and put a regulaer outlet timer on it or a alarm off your stove or what ever, save a couple of bucks

Smeg ST660 not starting

Switch the power off. Remove the 'built-in cupboard' panel from the front of the dishwasher and you should see the end of the timer spindle. With the power off you can turn this clockwise using another appliance knob or carefully with pliers. I think one 'start' position is with the flat section below the centre and horizontal. If the two lights are not on then try the 'start' button second from left to advance the timer.

Smeg integrated dishwasher continually washing - won't move to drying cycle.

you should check the heating element. if the water is not hot enough, the timer will not advance. crack open the door mid-cycle. let the water stop flying around. then open it all the way up. if you don't get a big ball of steam, you have an indication that your heating element may not be working properly. this is not too hard to check the resistance with a multimeter and then replace, if necessary. good luck

Dishwasher won't cycle through to rinse/dry/stop

Your timer switch is most likely defective.

It probably needs to be replaced.

It is like a clock with switches at different times

If it is stuck at a particular time it will run there forever.

Before servicing disconnect power!!!!!!!!!!

You can remove inside door panel with about 6 phillips screws or so.

Timer is directly attached to the dial on your machine.

These cost about $100.00 or less.

Can also be found used online for cheaper.

Smeg oven SA 392 EB - technical difficulties

first of all the yellow/orange light glowing is a known fault. it needs a slight wiring modification to fix it, however it dose not affect the operation of the oven nor is it dangerous.
now to the heating problem, there is a round element at the rear witch surrounds the fan. is this element getting hot? if not then it most likely needs replacing. it could be the thermostat but more likely the element.

the thermostats need replacing thers 3 of them you can get to them from the front its better to take the door skin off first so you can see better then take the lower panel off.the thermostats are on the right hand side underneath.
