Thanks - there are no Wash Progress LEDs lit. Only water level lights - high

I have tried to start the machine whilst completely empty, nothing happens. I have taken the agitator out and checked that there is nothing underneath it . The agitator seems to be free when I move it manually. Do you mean that I should fill the machine with water manually and try the agitator again? as it will not fill by itself. If so I am not sure how I would empty it?
When I press the power button, everything displays as normal, with the most left hand light flashing, when I press START this light stops flashing, as usual, but nothing happens. It is at this stage the machine usually begins to flll with water. Yes, I have checked that the taps are on. If I fill the machine with water would that check the Basket Hub Sline problem??
I can hear a very faint buzz as if the power is on but not doing anything.

I have checked all of these things to no avail. The washing machine is full of water and the agitator moves freely. I have gone back to the diagnostic check in the manual from the beginning and when in the switch test mode I think the lid switch may be the problem. I note that the manual says than in this mode the 12min wash light should be off when the lid is closed and on when the lid is open. This light is on when the lid is both open

Thanks, I will try and get hold of a magnet and let you know.

  • Edward Roy Iwanowski Oct 10, 2010

Thank you. The lid magnet is definitely the problem. I have the machine working with the lid open and a magnet sitting on the inside of the machine. I guess we will need to get a new lid? it doesn't look like there is any access to the magnet, it seems to be moulded into the plastic or do you have any other ideas? Thank you very much for your help.

Thank you very much for your assistance. We will look for a new lid.

Press the SPIN SPEED UP button until the HOLD and SLOW SPIN LEDs turn on. The WASH PROGRESS LEDs will display the most recent fault code by flashing some of the LEDs. Indicate clearly which among WASH PROGRESS LEDs are lit or flashing to determine the fault code number and pinpoint what and where the problems so that necessary action can be advised.

It is a user fault which means the machine is overloaded and cannot agitate. Start the machine without load to verify if this condition really exists. If not, then a piece of garment like socks may be stuck under the agitator and prevents the machine to agitate and thinks it is overloaded. Another possible reason if the first two conditions do not exist is the failure of the basket hub splines to disengage and the last possible reason is a seized motor rotor. Verify agitator or drive system restriction by filling the machine with water until it is full then try to turn the agitator manually.

With the machine not filling, no washer function will work. The inlet valves are not working and the faint buzz is likely coming from under the console where the valves are located. Also inspect the motor controller module located under the console.

That should be it, the lid switch is not closing and the machine cannot start. Place a strong magnet over the lid switch on the right side of washer at about 5 inches from the front. The lid switch magnet can be seen protruding from the right underside of the lid. You should hear the switch clicks when the lid is closed or when a strong magnet is placed over it. If not in either case, then the lid switch must be gone and needs to be replaced. But if the switch clicks when a magnet is placed over it and does not when the lid switch is closed, then the lid magnet must have been weak or dislodged from its position.

I'll be waiting for any update.

The lid switch is indeed molded into the lid and you need to replace the lid. But for the meantime you can close the lid then tape the magnet over the lid switch if that's okay for you and if the magnet is strong enough to activate the switch in that arrangement.

    Please do accept the solution.

My Fisher & Paykel 708 smart drive washing machine won't starts and beeps.

That is Error code 9
9.
(00001001) Phase 1 to 5 - Size Error
Phase 4 to 5
The Display size switch setting does not match that stored in memory.
Action - Reselect the size of Smartdrive by using the SIZE SETTING MODE. Push and hold
the water temp up button, then press the power button to enter SIZE SETTING MODE. Three
LEDs are used to identify size. The cold water temperature LED identifies 5kg. The low water
level LED identifies 6kg. The hold spin speed LED identifies 7kg. If the product has not been
setup before all 3 LEDs will be on. To set the size for 5kg push the wash temp up button then
the power button. To set the size for 6kg push the water level up button then the power button.
To set the size for 7kg push the spin speed up button then the power button. This locks the size
into memory. To check the size is set, start a cycle.

FISHER & Paykel 6.5 Smart Drive - No display lights

You need to get hold of a multi-meterand check the resistance of the pump, It should be 33ohms or close to it, the pump is part of the power circuit and the machine will appear dead if it has blown or is unplugged, If the machine was running without the earth wire to the pump connected and the pump had a fault/blockage there is a very good chance that it has blown the motor controller module. It requires the earth to provide a fault path to earth.

Fisher Paykel washing machine Smartdrive 703 Advance, Power and Start buttons are non responsive when pushed. Is there a part that can fix this. Does the control panel have to be replaced?

Fisher & Paykel Smart Drive beeps and stops during rinse cycle. If I hit pause and wait and restart it eventually continues. It seems like it has problems detecting water level.

Fisher & paykel 501 smart drive washing machine

It does not seem like a problem of the unit. It might be a loose connection of supply code. Keep the supply code pressed to the unit in different directions and see if the unit takes power. If so, replace the supply code. It's not that expensive.
