Two things. Check for a broken door spring. If okay, remove the cover from the motor housing and check for a bad drive gear. This is a white nylon gear just in front of the motor. If it is going bad it should be obvious.

Nothing wrong with the sensors and they only work when the door is closing anyway. Sounds like you may have a broken door spring or a bad drive gear. The drive gear is white nylon and is in front of the motor. It will be obvious if it is going bad.

Check your door springs to make sure one hasn't broken. Then remove the cover off the motor unit and check the drive gear. It is a white nylon gear just in front of the motor. It will be obvious if it is going bad.

Door goes up part way and stops (about 2 feet). It does this most of the time but not all the time so we do not believe it is the sensor. It closes fine. To get it open we have to hit the button and help...

It is not the sensors. They only work when the door is closing. You need to check your door springs to make sure one isn't broken. Also remove the cover and check the drive gear. This is a white nylon gear just in front of the motor and it will be obvious if it is going bad. If both of these are okay you can adjust the 'up force' which is a control on the back of the motor unit near all those white wires. Increase this about 1/4 turn and try.

Worked great the past 2 years. Now, garage door

Remove the cover and take a look at the drive gear. It is white nylon and is just in front of the motor. Most likely stripped.

Door goes up about a foot and stops

The sensors have nothing to do with your door opening. First thing to check are the door springs. One may be broken. Next remove the cover and check the drive gear. It is a white nylon gear just in front of the motor. It may be stripped.

Garage door opens about one foot and remains there.

Check the door springs. You could have a broken spring. Also remove the cover and check the drive gear. It is a white nylon gear just in front of the motor. It is possibly stripped. This is a good time to release the door from the opener and operate it by hand to see just how heavy it has become.

Most likely you have a broken door spring. Look closely as sometimes it is hard to tell. Also remove the cover and look at the drive gear. It is white nylon and is just in front of the motor.
