Why It looks like there's lightning (sparking) inside your microwave :--

When you see arcing inside your microwave, it's because of food or liquid left in the cavity or on the wave-guide cover:

If the wave guide has any burn spots, replace it and clean the unit well.

If the cavity has any burn spots, spot-sand it smooth and touch it up with microwave interior paint.

Note... If there are any burn holes in the cavity, don't use the unit.

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation

Massive sparking and noisy when switched on to heat

Hi,
There are 2 things that cause the massive sparking:
1. you placed inside the microwave oven a metal plate or one with silvery or golden drawings;
2. the mica sheet that covers the magnetron window is compromised (has holes, it is cracked) or it is covered with burnt (carbonised) food.
You have to carefully inspect the mica sheet and wash or replace it, if necessary. Hope that helps.
Regards,
Dan

I have a Sharp Carousel Microwave R-1460A. The disk on the ceiling, opposite the warming plate and about the same size, has severe burn marks (probably from food splatters). Any idea what that part is

see this indication and fix it. God bless you
  1. Waveguide coverSparking and arcing in a microwave can be caused by a damaged waveguide cover. Try removing the waveguide cover to see if the problem persists. Once removed, the waveguide cover can be inspected for burns, which will indicate if this is the issue. If the waveguide cover is burnt or will not stay in the proper spot it will need to be replaced.
  2. Cavity/Rack supportIf sparking or arcing in your microwave is near a rack support, any exposed metallic area can be covered with a microwave cavity support. It is also recommended to replace the rack supports in this situation to ensure the issue is resolved.
  3. Cavity paintIf sparking or arcing in the microwave is visible on the side walls, the paint covering the metallic areas could have worn off or chipped. This can possibly cause pitting in the side walls or ceiling. If this is the case, it can be repaired with microwave cavity pain

Sharp R408LS keeps sparking after minimal use. This is our 3rd one. This is mounted on an inside cabintet.

The magnetron is arcing in the interior and will eventually burn out. Check the inside for bare metal or food particals, if okay! the magnetron is breaking down and will eventually go.

My ewave nicrowave has started this blue sparking and buzzing behind the small pannel inside, what do I need to do?

The magnetron is arcing on the inside because of bare metal or food partical buildup, this needs attention right away before the magnetron is distroyed. Take warm soapy water and clean until spotless, if that fails! have someone check it.

Why is my microwave sparking and buzzing?

This is a indicator the magnetron is going, take warm soapy water and wash until spotless, sometimes food particals will cause this, if no change! check interior for paint peeling and exposed metal, again a potential issue. If no change! the price of new one is worth considering due to attractive pricing.

My microwave is about 7 years old and has recently started sparking when I heat things in it. Can it be saved or is it best to buy a new one?

sparking usually relates to i) using metal in the cavity or ii) some burnt food on the roof iii) the waveguide cover 'mica' panel is burning iv) door area enamel has been damaged. After 7 years you may want to bin it and get a new one as they are now so cheap, fixing them is usually more expensive.

Microwave sparks inside oven in the area of the sealed compartment when it is started

If unit was run for long time with food on walls and not cleaned off, it is possible that the unit was burned in a spot where the food was and if there is metal frame under that part for the finish it will spark. Check closely for burns, if it is sparking due to that problem, junk it. It is a dangerous condition.
