You need to run you computer in safe mode to see if you have a driver problem. if everything works fine in safe mode try removing any pointer software then reboot so it can correct itself

Acer Laptop Help

To get started with this product, complete the following steps.
Turn the laptop on by pressing the Power button located above the keyboard.
Locate the touchpad.
You use the touchpad much like you would use a mouse.
The touchpad controls your cursor.
It responds as you move your finger across its surface.
Move your finger across the touchpad to move the cursor.

Locate the bar below the touchpad.
This bar may be used for selecting and has left and right-click functions that you can use a mouse.
Clicking on the right end of the bar has the same effect as right-clicking with a mouse.
Clicking on the left end of the bar has the same effect as left-clicking with a mouse.
Tapping the touchpad is the same as clicking the left end of the bar.

Use the keyboard like you would use a desktop keyboard.
The only difference is that the keyboard of an Acer laptop is smaller than a regular laptop keyboard.
Click on the Windows icon in the lower left side of the screen to access programs.
Make sure your wireless switch is turned on, if you want to access the Internet.
Then locate a wireless network.
Windows may automatically detect and display a list of available networks.
If that happens, you only have to select the network you wish to access.
If it is not your network, you may need a password if it is security-enabled.
If Windows does not automatically detect a network, open Internet Explorer, and follow the on-screen instructions to connect to a wireless network.

try plugging in a standard desktop keyboard & mouse
if works the problem is probably the onboard keyboard/touchpad
if not work probably driver problem
try restart while pressing F8, select safe mode
if works go to control panel & check mouse settings
if ok either malware - run anti-virus application
or is bad hard drive media - run error checking
right click C: drive, select Properties, select Tools, select Error Checking, follow instructions

Sony vaio laptop is turning on but the keybord+mouse not working

If your Keyboard and mouse are PS2 type, turn off your system, unplug them and try a USB type mouse and keyboard instead. If you are already using USB type mouse and keyboard, then try plugging them into different USB ports. Bootup in Safe Mode if possible. If you do not have keyboard functionality during the initial boot process, you may have sustained damage to the motherboard. The fact you mentioned a noise (speaker type?) and then lost component function, would indicate a possible hardware failure

Can not get my key board to respond when coputer boots up,

Do you get video at least?
Do you get keyboard during POST? (Try turning the system off, turn it on and keep hitting F8 until you get to a windows boot selection screen)

Does Windows boot all the way up but you just cannot interact with the laptop? Try plugging in an external mouse/keyboard/speakers, or remove it from the docking station if it is attached to one.
If you get keyboard/mouse before windows (able to move up and down the boot selection screen), then Windows may just need to be reinstalled for some strange reason.

If you still aren't getting anything, the motherboard may need to be replaced.

Computer freezes on boot up

make sure the mouse and keyboard are in right connections...if you look closely youll see icons next to ports.
try without mouse at first start up ,load windows and use key with windows logo on it to access start and scroll to shutdown tab and restart...plug in the mouse before restart.
if logo tab isnt assigned press ctrl + esc to access start menu.

Key board and mouse

try holding down the fn key and look for a blue icon of a keyboard and or mouse usually these icons are under the F keys but I can't find a close up pic of one so I can't say where it is for sure. This will toggle enable and disable for the mouse and keyboard.

I need your help!!

Hey Ian: Shut the system down. Start it up again and as soon as you see something on the screen start hitting the F8 button for a few seconds. You should see a screen with a list of selections on it. Use your arrow keys to highlight SAFE MODE. Then hit enter. If it boots fully into safe mode see if your mouse works. See if your virus program will run and do complete scan. Then do a system restore. You do this by clicking start>click programs>click accessories>click system tools>click system restore. Choose a date about three days before you noticed any problems. If this fixed your problem please rate as fixed. If still couldn't use mouse or need furter help just add a comment and I'll be glad to help. Thanks.
