I had that problem also,i wish someone would sue microsoft like the guy did for the 3 red lights and maybe it would get covered for 3 years as well.in the mean time they charge $100 to fix it,this includes round trip shipping and they send you the box with the packaging foam.the no video with sound problem is occurring alot, just google it and you'll see what i mean.now be prepared when dealing with the microsoft support team, they are something else.they try to confence you that youre doing somthing wrong, when in reality its the 360.

ur xbox is in hd mode.to get it out of it turn ur xbox 360 on with remote than hold ( Y ) and the R trigger together and wait and see if it turns on and if it doesnt ull need a new connection for ur tv
turns out after a bit of fiddling around that there is a switch on the 360 elite's VGA cable that you can switch on and off, i never knew they had these switches because it is my first tme with an elite, machine works fine though so far no freezes or glitches and im playing fallout 3. anyway for allthose that cant get video because of the cord or something make sure you check your VGA TV/HDTV switch, as i missed it too.
if your xbox doesnt show pics or sound you should send it back to the xbox company and they will fix it for you. do not open it up and fix it yourself. all you have to do is pay shippping which doesnt cost that much......... hope this helps
