MFC-440CN printing problem

HI there,
My MFC-440CN doens't print in the Magenta color. I have the printer since 9 months and always worked fine. I thought that the ink cartridge was empty but found out it was still full. To test, I replaced the Magenta ink cartridge by a new one but result is the same. I processed the cleaning function several times but same result. Could it be the ink head of Magenta color. I don't know what to do. Please help!

Hi, I have the same problem. Black cartridge was empty and have replaced it, but still have the same message to replace cartridge. I bought a new one, thinking maybe black replacement was faulty, still same problem. How can i resolve this.

I have exactly the same problem and have tried the same fixes as Christian's with the magenta. Again, the printer is only about 10 months old.

My printer just stopped printing blue ink. I've changed the cartridge, and the other colors work fine.

I have a problem with print quality of my Brother printer mFC-6490CW, I have run the ink management utility, the black, yellow and magenta printed to about 95% just one dotted line missing on the black,...

Well, this is a common problem with people who purchase Brother printers, but do not always use Brother Ink Cartridges. Brother has a cleaning agent in the print cartridge and the compatibles do not.

"If you have a lack of one (or more) color do the following:

Make sure all carts are full, placed well and are secured. Insert a new ORIGINAL BROTHER CART for the one that shows no color.

Press menu then start bk-copy then four times arrow up quick after another. machine will switch into maintenance mode and all lights will flash. Press 7 then 6 then 4 then start bk-copy. machine will initialize the carts and refresh ink within tubes and print head. After that it does some power cleaning. When finished press 7 then 6 then 3 then start bk-copy. machine will run a power purge. when finished press 9 then 9 to leave the maintenance mode. do run a quality test print.

This should clean the lines out and clear up your issue.

My MFC465CN Wont print, I am missing Magenta will that affect it?

Yes missing the magenta ink will cause it not to print. This is because its a color inkjet machine that uses one printer head for all four inks, so when one of them go empty you will need to replace that one for it to work.

Did you use Brother Genuine Cartirdges????
ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!!
That sounds like your problem.

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc. These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine.

When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, mis-align the letters & put stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. Don’t waste too much ink in cleaning it.

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

Magenta cartridge full, no printing

Yes the printhead is the problem, it runs around $90.00 now, and no amount of cleaning ever restores these printheads. No need for the alcohol tho, these inks are all water soluble.

what are you trying to print in black? the best way to test out a black ink is to open word pad and type some thing random and print it and see if that works. if you have a all in one printer u might have 2 inks one color and one black in the printer

Out of a few colors

No. the ph needs all colors to run without problems. This prefent the ph from drying out.

If you want to print without any problems in future, replace the carts as soon as possible.
