Question about Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera
I love my camera and it has served me well for over 3 years but a couple weeks ago it started failing to capture the image and flashing ?Err 99? on the display! The only way to get rid of the message was to turn the camera off. Or reinstall the batteries. I tried to ignore it but now it happens very often! I'll appreciate any help on this. Thank You! Jhon I cannot use my Sigma 150/400 lens with my canon 400D I simply get Error 99. I have used an eraser on the electrical contacts, charged and replaced the battery and switched memory cards.
See if Sigma has any updated advice on this. Otherwise, I don't mean to sound rude or harsh, but unfortunately you may be out of luck with the compatibility...you will need to get a Canon lens. Error 99 is just a communication error and cleaning the contacts is about all you can really do so if that hasn't worked...I'm sure this is not the news you want to hear, but contact Sigma if you haven't already and see what they say.

This can mean a host of different problems but try these things to fix it:
Usually the lense is the culprit so make sure it is fully cleaned.
