Question about Garden

Open Question

Hi I have a fish mate pressurised filter 10000UV and a seperate pump. For quite a few months now the water pressure through the decorative taps has varied, some days good, other days it has stopped. I cleaned the filter today and when I put it all back together again and switched it back on, it kept tripping the fuse box in the house. I also noticed the bulb (presumably the UV filter) is black at the bottom. The pump seems to work but as soon as I put the filter back together, it cuts out and trips the fuse. Any ideas what might be wrong?

SOURCE: Hotpoint CTD00 trips the power

This happened to me.

Your condenser unit on the front bottom left corner may be clogged up and causing water to back up around the fan and heating element behind the rear panel.
Take condenser unit out and give it a good clean removing as much fluff as possible.

If the heating element senses damp on it, then it will trip the electric.
The back panel which is at 45 degree angle on back. I took this off and sure enough there was water in there.
Wipe away all water and use an ever so slightly damp cloth to remove as much dust stuck to the metal as possible.
I used a hair dryer for about ten minutes fanning over the heating element and circular fan. Don't rush this. Take your time to make sure all signs of damp have been removed from heating element before putting the back panel back on.
After carrying out the above my machine worked fine and no longered trip electric.
It is a pain, but to prevent this problem happening I suggest cleaning condenser unit about once a week if you have alot of washing. Empty water panel after every two loads, maximum.

Good luck
Jon

SOURCE: no power to hot tub...

In all liklihood, your problem is a breakdown in the insulation of the heating element. The elements tend to be mineral insulated then metal jacketed. Once you get a bit of corrosion on the jacket and a little water gets into the mineral powder, it's insulation properties fall off sharply, shorting out the power supply.

There are two practical ways of testing this:

The pro way of doing it is to borrow a high voltage insulation tester, disconnect the power leads from the element and check the resistance between one of the elements terminals and the jacket. Treat anything less than a megohm as a failure requiring replacement of the element. (nb. This is one of those rare cases where you need to use a proper insulation tester - an ordinary multimeter often fails to find this problem)

The alternative is just to replace the element and see how much difference it makes.

Does the expiration date on the food really matter?

Fish foods often don't have an expiration date on them, but they have a short shelf life. Flake foods lose much of their nutritional value in about a month, so you should purchase only what you can use in a few weeks. Vitamin and nutritional deficiency is a big contributor in making fish susceptible to disease.

http://www.ereplacementparts.com/karcher-2500-11944010-pressure-washer-parts-c-33388_33389_33973.html

sounds like you have a unloader valve problem or a crack in the pressure manifold housing between pressure outlet and unloader valve assy allowing unloader to cycle on/ off

or some dirt trapped in the unloader valve seat , make sure you have good supply of water - ie good flow from tap to pump

try cleaning unloader 1st and fitting in line tap filter

hope it helps

Can i use this pump in my salt water fish tank

Glad to HELP YOU!

I am an aquarist for MANY YEARS. I do have few tanks at home, one with fresh water and other three with saltwater (reef and fish only).

I'd suggest you DO NOT USE such pump into your saltwater tank.
Stick instead with the classic ones: CORALIFE, MARINELAND, ATLAS and so on.
This Flotec 1/6 Hp 1260 is used mostly for PONDS and DECORATIVE FOUNTAINS. In saltwater some of its plastic parts will release TOXIC SUBSTANCES that will KILL your livestock!!!

My best wishes!

Motor running, water supply adequate but when

clean whole water supply and outlet from all debris, clean inlet filter as well. connect water and pressurise washer, pull trigger and wait about 3sec for pump to activate, if pump do not activate adn you have pressure from nozzle as it will be from main, this determines pressure sensor (it is extremelly rare for pump itself) is damaged.

check if you have still warranty, this will qualify as warranty repair, if warranty is expired, pressure sensor need to be replaced.

if you find my advice useful, please do not hesitate to leave your remarks and vote for me, thanx!

hi Peter if you have a mixer tap there are no washers there is a ceramic cartridge in the centre but that should't be the fault

The pressure drops very slowly over a month then needs topping uo from the filling loop to 1.5 bar. when the heating is on it goes upto 3 bar. the pipe outside is slightly damp. it was fine during the...

Sounds like the expansion vessel in the boiler has lost pressure or is faulty. If you have a tyre pressure gauge, locate the expansion vessl and check the pressure via the schraeder valve. It should be around 1.5 bar. If there is no pressure you can re pressurise it with a bicycle pump. Should it not pressurise then you will need a new one. The pressure relief pipework outside is damp because the system is over pressurising at relieving pressure at 3 bar. This obviously causes a system pressure drop. You can install a pressure vesel into the heating return pipework should accessing the boiler be difficult.
