Hey thetaff,
The first thing you should check is to make sure your battery is charged, which will also address the next step which is to remove the battery from the camera and wait a minute or two and then reinsert it. Once in a while a strong static electrical charge can render the camera non functional and removing the battery can resolve this issue. If neither of these suggestions work I would try a manual reset of the camera which can be done by pressing the reset button inside of the connecter cover, but remember this should reset the clock and any custom settings you might have set.
