Bleach and Fabric Softner Dispenser

Hi
This is a result of the siphoning action and is part of the normal operation of the washer. Water
may be removed by removing the dispenser drawer and draining
water into the empty drum or sink.

Outside
• When washing is completed, wipe top and sides of washer with a damp cloth. Turn water
faucets off to prevent pressure build-up in the hoses.
• As needed, clean the cabinet with mild soap and water. Never use harsh, gritty or
abrasive cleansers. If door or console becomes stained, clean with diluted chlorine bleach
[1/2 cup (120 ml) in 1 quart (.95 L) water]. Rinse several times with clear water.
• Remove glue residue from tape or labels with a mixture of warm water and mild detergent.
Or, touch residue with the sticky side of the tape or label.
• Before moving the washer, place a strip of cardboard or thin fiberboard under the front
leveling legs to prevent floor damage.
Cleaning the Dispenser Drawer Area
Detergent and fabric softener may build up in the dispenser drawer. Residue should be removed
once or twice a month.
• Remove the drawer by pulling the drawer out until it stops. (Figure 1)
• Reach back into the left rear corner of the drawer cavity and press down firmly on the lock
tab (left rear portion of the drawer). Pull out the drawer. (Figure 2)
• Remove the insert from the bleach and fabric softener compartments. (Figure 3)
• Rinse the drawer and inserts with hot tap water to remove traces of accumulated powders
and liquids. Large amounts of fabric softener residue may indicate improper dilution or
more frequent cleaning is required.
• To clean the drawer opening, use a small brush to clean the recess. Remove all residue
from the upper and lower parts of the recess. (Figure 4)
• Replace the insert pressing the "X" to lock it in place. Return the dispenser drawer.
Inside
• Remove items from the washer as soon as the cycle ends. Excess wrinkling, color transfer,
and odors may develop in items left in the washer.
• Before cleaning the washer interior, unplug the electrical power cord to avoid electrical
shock hazards.
• Dry around the washer door opening, flexible gasket, and door glass. These areas should
always be clean to ensure a water tight seal.
• When extremely soiled items have been washed, a dirty residue may remain on the drum.
Remove this by wiping the drum with a nonabrasive household cleanser. Rinse thoroughly
with water.
• Periodically, wipe dry the bottom of the flexible gasket to remove lint and other debris.
• The plastic drum vanes may become stained from fabric dye. Clean these parts with a
nonabrasive household cleanser. This prevents dye transfer to future loads.

How do I get the bleach dispenser to drain?

Hello Denise C - There are several things that could cause the bleach to not dispense into the washer. Are you sure the liquid in the dispenser after the wash is bleach? If it is pure bleach, the solenoid that lets the water into the dispenser is not working. This solenoid is located on the back of the dispenser. It only gets voltage during the dispense time and fills the bleach dispenser with water. The bleach dispenser fills while the washer is filling for the rinse cycle.

When the washer begins to fill for the rinse cycle, the bleach solenoid is energized and water flows into the bleach dispenser cup. When the cup is full the water siphons out and bleach and water flow into the tub.

If the liquid in the bleach dispenser is pure bleach you may need a technician to diagnose and repair the problem. The voltage will have to be tested to the bleach solenoid and a volt meter is required.

If the liquid in the bleach dispenser is water you probably need to clean the dispenser cup. Scum will build up in the siphon tube and stop the liquid from going into the washer tub. The incoming water will dilute the bleach and overflow the dispenser cup and run into the tub.

Remove the insert from the bleach and fabric softener compartments. Clean the bottom of the insert and the bleach and fabric softener compartments. Reinstall the insert and put the drawer back inside the washer.

To test the siphon action slowly pour water into the bleach compartment. When the water level goes above the maximum line stop pouring. The water should all drain out. You may also test the fabric softener compartment the same way.

I do hope this information proves to be helpful.

The fabric softener area does not drain. What can I do to correct this problem?

Hi,
This is on my to do lidt for writing a new tip...
Pull out the drawer and on the top left of the drawer tou will see a plastic tab that holds the drawer from coming all the way out. Push down on the tab and slide the drawer all the way out.
You will want to take the drawer to a sink and give it good scrubbing. Wash everything out, take the covers off of the bleach compartment and the fabris softener compartment. Clean out the holes with a toothpick in the tube that the cover sets on. That is were the siphon action takes place that pulls the bleach and fabric sofnter out of the cup of the drawer.
You also will want to wipe out behind the drawer while you have it apart.
Replace the drawer and you are back in business!!

Help with drawer for fabric softener

Take out the drawer and clean the compartment and pipe at the end of the drawer with hot soapy water - washing up liquid works well. Clean all around it. Use a pipe cleaner, cotton buds or piece of coiled curtain wire to ensure that the U shaped pipe is clear of obstruction. Pull it back and forward to dislodge any accumulated fabric conditioner. To show this is working OK, put it in the sink and fill up the compartment with water until it is overflowing then stop. The water should drain out of the compartment on its own.

Next, where the drawer fits in the machine clean the water exit above the drawer with a washing up brush. This can appear brown or white depending on your water type. If this is OK then try running the machine. If there is still a problem, remove the drawer again and turn off the power at the mains. Use something like a paper clip to poke all the holes in the water dispenser area above the drawer. There are lots of them so some patience might be required. If you live in a hard water area it could be blocked with limescale in which case an application of a descaling mousse or spray will assist. Once complete, make sure you rinse the drawer area, drawer and put the drawer back in and run the machine on a short cold fill wash cycle. Put some fab con in the drawer to test that the machine drains it correctly. A good idea is to slightly water down fab con concentrate as it will eventually clog up the dispenser. If all is well then there will be no fab con left. If it is still there then you will need to get into the water dispensing area to see what is wrong. Occasionally the mechanism can get jammed, lose a spring or just get broken, in which case it will need replacing.

My washer is holding water where you put bleach or softener after cycle is done. Help!

Remove the detergent drawer from the machine, the instruction book will tell you exactly how to do so, but usually you pull them out as far as possible and then push down on the rear centre top of the drawer to flex the plastic slightly to allow the drawer to come all the way out.

The softener/bleach compartment has a siphon built into it and this gets blocked, normally with a black scummy deposit made of microbes and softener residues. You need to clean out as much as you can, you may need a cotton bud to reach deeper crevices. It's usually possible to unclip the siphon from the drawer; it looks like a kind of lid partway over the rear of the softener compartment. If you can get it off you'll normally see two dead ended vertical tubes which are vertical and the top one fits over the lower one. Clean both thoroughly inside and out.

Reassemble and put the drawer on your sink drainer. Fill the softener compartment with water: it should drain out via the siphon if you've cleaned it enough.

Refit the drawer to your washer and in future clean it out every couple of weeks or weekly in the summer.

Bleach leaking on floor

hiya was a bit puzzled at this one ? but will try to help not certain re your machine about bleach in dispensor but consulted the wife about bleach in our machine and no where in the manual does it mention use of bleach only softeners ? however you mention dispensor does not dispense ? try this? remove/pull out drawer and clean out the machine where drawer fits of any residue powder alsi the softener dispensor remove from drawer and ensure the cap is good fit on the dispensor tube ? if loose? then the dispensor will not work as it is emptied of softener//bleach by syphon effect ie as like toilet flush? as water enters rises to tor of tube then the fluid in compartment is syphoned along with water that is entering on rinse? cycle so if no syphon? water will o/flow/fill the drawer on l/h side and may o/flow leak from drawer ?? hope this helps? and you understand the syphon effect for using softeners ? ps i may be mistaken about use of bleach but prior apologies if iam wrong
