This could be only a door switch or inter lock switch. They are inexpensive and a common failure. Both are easy to check and replace. Most other problems might not be worth repairing. Here are a couple links that should help http://appliancehelponline.com/microwavetroublshootingvideo.html

How do you replace a microwave oven door interlock switch?

Not a very expensive repair in our shop---you have to remove cover and locate the leaf switch or replace/repair it. The part is not usually very expensive and in many cases no soldering is involved.

It prevents the unit from being operated if door not closed etc.

How repair

When the Microwave oven doesn't heat but seems to function and turn on this is causes by a failed part called the Magnetron, the Magnetron is what generates the Microwave radiation that heats fool, the cost to replace the part is often more expensive than just replacing the whole oven with a new one.

Not heating

Hello

Power Supply

Check whether there is a proper power supply. Look to see whether the cord is connected to a grounded 3-prong outlet and the cord is fully plugged in. If the electrical system is built-in and no power cord is visible, replace or reset the household fuse or circuit breaker.

Microwave Functions

Some basic microwave operational steps may affect whether the microwave is heating. Open and close the microwave door, as the unit will not function with the door open, and push "Stop/Clear" to cancel any previous settings, such as the timer, which do not heat the microwave oven.

Setting the Microwave

Once the power to the microwave has been reset, or verified as working, and the microwave is ready to run, select a new cook cycle and press "Start" to see if the microwave begins to run and cook food as expected. Allow the food to cook for the alloted time and then open the microwave door and check to see if the food has cooked or heated. Choose a longer cooking time and restart the microwave if food is heating but is cooking slowly.

Repair

If all efforts to troubleshoot the function and power to the microwave still do not get the appliance heating food as expected, there may be a repair issue that needs to be addressed. Contact professional technician for advice.

Kenmore 665.6061200 over range microwave. Problem started a few days ago with a clicking sound from the RH side of the unit (seemingly behind the control panel), about 3 clicks per second for about 3-4...

The most likely cause of the clicking sound is the power relay that is connected to the microwaves PCB (circuit board) that turns the magnetron on and off. If starting to fail it may result in multiple clicks, then once fully failed, your microwave would simply not heat anything (as the high voltage components would not be getting power).
Unless you have a strength in electronics and repair, and understand the lethal dangers involved in working on a microwave, even one that is unplugged, this problem will likely need to be repaired by a qualified service centre.
Depending on the microwave design and the technician the whole relay circuit board may need to be replaced making this repair vary from relatively inexpensive to more expensive.

Whirlpool MH1160XSQ-1 microwave oven will not heat

all microwaves have a magenetron which produces the heat. if this is gone and it is not under warranty, it is not cost effective to repair. check you manual, most mag's have a 3 - 5 year warranty.

Stopped heating

Ok, if the fan and everything else is functional, this will point directly to a failed Magnetron assembly. this device is responsible for the heating process and, if it is not working properly, your microwave will not heat. Simply replacing the Magnetron will fix this issue.

GE Microwave (JES1655WF001) is no longer working. Lights and controls appear to be functioning, however, food comes out cold.

If it is working but not heating, then test the high voltagecapacitor, the rectifier diode.or the magnetron. If all this are fine, test the control board. If turntable is not running check also the doorswitch.

The diodeandcapacitors can be tested. The capacitor must be allowed discharge beforetesting, or you risk to get electrocuted, evenif power is off.Capacitorscan get discharged by shorting their two contacts.
Before replacing the magnetron test also the control board.
Replace the magnetron if the checks and all of the high voltage component tests are good, but the unit still does not heat.

All locations, and description of this parts can be located using the diagram here: Counter top.

Parts must be tested to find out what is wrong.

Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

Regarding parts, contact the seller here to purchase parts.

You can also order from MicrowaveSvc , they also provide parts.

Everything works except heat

Sounds like you've had a failure in the microwave portion of the unit.

Microwave not heating problems when the timer/controller board appears to function properly, are related to the following components -

1) Diode
2) Capacitor
3) Transformer
4) Magnetron

Turn table

See the following suggestions from Repairclinic:

The carousel won't turnAlthough the carousel is usually driven by a small motor that's unrelated to the heating function of the microwave, the microwave cabinet needs to be opened to repair it. So we recommend that you seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician. Inspect the plastic drive coupling that the tray sits on, as well as the ring-and-roller assembly, to make sure that they're working properly.
