Unsure about your first question as I have had no problems with the ignition module or flywheel as of yet. However the spark plug gap is 0.025 inch

Need to do a tune-up. what are the settings on the spark plug and on the magneto gap.


The plug gap is 0.020". Use a thin business card for the ignition module gaps--turn the flywheel so that the magnets are under the module poles, insert the card into the gaps, loosen the module screws, and allow the poles to contact the magnets. Tighten the screws, and turn the flywheel somewhat to release the card. Then turn the flywheel one full turn to make sure the gaps don't close further. With a fresh spark plug, the spark should be blue and snappy. Hope this helps!

5200 no spark


Remove the left side cover to expose the flywheel and ignition module. Set the module pole gap by turning the flywheel magnets under the module, insert a thin business card into the pole gaps, loosen the module screws to allow the module to contact the magnets. Tighten the screws and turn the flywheel somewhat to remove the card. Turn the flywheel one full turn to make sure the gaps do not close up at any point. Remove the ignition switch wire from the coil connection (not the pole ground), and install a fresh spark plug gapped at 0.020". Try again for spark. If nothing, replace the module. Hope this helps!

I cannot start the blower/vacuum after replacing the ignition module.


You need to use a thin business card to set the pole gap at the module--access the flywheel/module area again and turn the flywheel magnets under the module poles. Insert a thin business card into the pole gaps, loosen the module mounting screws and allow the module to contact the magnets. Tighten the screws and rotate the flywheel somewhat to release the card. Rotate the flywheel one full turn to make sure the gaps don't close up any further. Remove the ignition switch wire from the module body for a test, and try for spark--it should be blue and snappy on a clean plug gapped at 0.020". Hook the ignition switch wire back to the module. It's about Husqvarna 345 chainsaw. I would like to know the resistance value between spark plug wire and blue wire from ignition coil, and between spark plug wire and the ground and finally resistance...


The easiest way to test is on the machine. Remove the ignition switch wire from the module coil. Check the pole gaps of the module by inserting a thin business card into the gaps after turning the flywheel magnets under the module. Loosen the module mounting screws to allow the module to contact the magnets, tighten the screws, and turn the flywheel slightly to release the card. Turn the flywheel one full turn to make sure the gaps don't close up further. Use a fresh spark plug gapped at 0.020" and try for spark. If nothing, replace the module. This gets around measuring resistances while trying to evaluate the module. Hope this helps!

The saw wont start up


Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Check the condition of the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Make sure there is fresh fuel mix in the tank and be sure to shake the container thoroughly each time just before filling the tank to prevent oil starvation. Remove the spark plug and check for blue, snappy spark (plug gapped 0.020"). If weak or none, try a fresh plug. If no help, remove the left side cover to expose the flywheel and ignition module. Remove the ignition switch wire from the module coil and try for spark again. If still nothing, try setting the module pole gap by turning the flywheel magnets under the module poles, insert a thin business card into the gaps, loosen the module screws to allow the module to contact the magnets. Tighten the screws and rotate the flywheel somewhat to remove the card. Turn the flywheel one full turn to make sure the gaps don't close up at any point. Recheck for spark--if still nothing, replace the module using the above procedure. Assuming that the engine has good compression and the carburetor in not in trouble, it should start. No spark


Assuming that you have tried a new plug with no results, remove the flywheel side cover to expose the flywheel and ignition module. Remove the ignition switch wire from the module and try for spark again. If nothing, replace the module. Use a thin business card for the pole gap gauge--place the card between the flywheel magnets and the module, then allow the two parts to stick together. Tighten the screws, then rotate the flywheel to remove the card. Turn the flywheel one full turn and make sure the gap doesn't close up any further. At this point, you should have spark. Set the plug gap at 0.020". Hope this helps!

Poulan 295 model chainsaw/ won't start, no spark


Start first with a fresh spark plug set at 0.020" gap. Make sure ignition switch is on. If still nothing, remove the cover from the flywheel. Set the ignition module gap by using a thin business card between the module poles and the flywheel magnets. Loosen the mounting screws, let the module contact the magnets, and re-tighten the screws. Turn the flywheel to remove the card, then rotate the flywheel on full turn checking that the gap doesn't close-up any further. Check for spark again--if still nothing, remove the ignition switch wire from the ignition module. Check for spark--if spark now occurs, check the condition of the ignition switch or the connecting wire may be grounding out somewhere in between. If still nothing, replace the ignition module. I have a Poulan 2050 is there a setting for the the spark plug?


Use 0.020" for the plug gap. If the spark is weak looking, check the ignition module to flywheel magnets gap using a thin business card for a gauge--turn the flywheel magnets under the module, insert the gauge, loosen the module screws to allow the module to clamp to the magnets, the re-tighten the screws. Rotate the flywheel to remove the gauge, then make one complete revolution of the wheel while checking the gap--it should not close up any more than originally set. Recheck for blue, snappy spark. No spark on Mc Culloch 110 saw


Remove the stop switch wire from the switch and check for spark (use a clean spare plug and the plug base touching engine metal), If nothing, trace the wire back to the ignition coil looking for worn insulation. Is this a magneto model or an all-in-one module? If a magneto, there should be points and condenser--check points gap (about 0.015") and condition. Check the core gap to flywheel magnets (I use card stock to set the gap). Try to wiggle the flywheel to check for crankshaft bearing looseness. If the ignition is an all-in-one module, check the core gap to the flywheel magnets. Otherwise replace the module. Hope this gets you running.
