This is Gene Allen, the light I am talking about is the blue light on the laptop which changes from yellow to blue when the wireless function is in service. My router is a Netgear wireless. Don't lose any sleep over this because this is the least of my problems, I tried to load XP into my Toshiba and it crashed. Now I can't get anything to load at all and basicily retired it. Thanks for your effort.

Hello,

please post me the model of your netgear router and also, what lights are you talking about?
You need to match the wireless settings from the other computer and make sure this one gets the same settings. Network name, password etc.

If the yellow light is on your laptop and you need to get it blue, make sure wireless switch is turned on.

Maybe I can help you recover the machine, are you getting any kind of error messages currently? If you succeeded in reload xp into the computer, and you get to the desktop, you might be missing the drivers required for it to work properly and get online. at http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/...

Unable to connect to Wireless Router

Hi, There have been some compatibility issues with certain wireless cards. First try (for a short time) to remove any encryption you have set up on your wireless system. If the laptop logs on now, this is the problem I've confronted a few times. Try the different types of encryption that your router provides. If that doesn't work, I'd send the Netgear back (if its under warranty) explaining the problem. If there is no help there, maybe you should get the same model of router as next door. Hope this helps

Compliancy : Wi-Fi®
Network Support : 802.11b/g
Wireless Technology : Wireless LAN

That is the internal wireless so no you dont you need any thing to set up a wireless connection
You need to set up your wireless network

Or you should have got an ethernet cable with the router usually small yellow, blue or blue. plug this cable into one of the ports on the back of your router then the other end of cable to the ethernet port on side (i think) of laptop anc conect phone line from main box to router. You dont need no software just switch on router wait a couple of minutes till all lights on router turn green and click on your internet explorer done!

Toshiba Satellite ethernet port disappeared...

I think you have answered your own problem, your wireless has possibly been zapped.
To test your ethernet adapter on your laptop connect it to a network hub, check the hub and see if you have a link light on the hub and or laptop..
To test your wireless router, connect it to a known working computer with a network card and check the router configuration, using the browser, if you cannot access it then its zapped.

WIRELESS SETUP CONNECTION FOR TOSHIBA TE2100

Go to the control panel. Open wireless connection wizard and configure it by giving the proxy setting of the router. There must be a DNS server to get you connected with the Domain.
First your os xp or vista
if u xp means go to network connection and see that tab, wireless network wizard and click next to open to next to next and click finish. It will appear in network connection windows. But u want to take airtel broad band wireless net key, and u open the tab if u finish ur network wizard tab. And it will open the icon it ask for key, u give it key to continue. It will ready to access the network, so this is the way

Good Luck
