Question about LG KU990 Viewty
Everytime i try and connect my lg viewty to my pc to download photos i open the lg suit connect te usb and try to syncronise the pc and phone and it says my "com port" is either not working or i should go in thro an idle screen. Can anyone shed any light on this becuase im confused, all i wanna do is get my photos off the phone.
Try clicking the button on top right hand of screen (multitasking button) see if there are any menus open . pc suit wont connect if there are any open menus. so u will need to close any b4 tring to connect.

I have just been given this information by LG Customer Services as I have the same connection problem.
This will only help if you are using a Laptop not a PC.
Firstly try using a different USB port.
Make sure the phone setting are set to Date Service in USB connection mode.
If your other USB ports fail, then the only way is to have a memory card for the phone, change connectivity phone settings to Mass storage, then when you plug your phone in to pc, it will show as an external storage device, so you can just drag and drop files to wherever you want them.

Right I have now gotmy Com port and idle thing sorted!
I restarted my phone, so that there were definitley no aplications running.
put it on the home screen , i then plugged it into the usb FIRST before opening the software, i opened the software and did not have to use connection wizard as phone was already showing as connected (if yours does not do this, then just use the wizard) then instead of trying to do a sync i just went straight to the contents folder, and lo and behold it connected and showed all the files in my phone!!!
i was then able to take my photos of the phone and put some music on it from the pc! FINALLY!!!!

The Idle Screen is the main/home screen of your phone - the screen that appears after your phone introduces itself after switching on. In order to sync, the PC Suite needs the phone to be on the Idle Screen or Home Screen for some odd reason.

Ok I recently got my KU9900 in Australia from allphones. The LG PC Suite included in Australian Ku990 handsets this may only work on. First after I install the software everytime I connected it would automatically disconnect when i clicked on any of the programs that required accessing the phone. ie. NOT the image editor etc. only the contacts, backup options etc.
1) Uninstall the suite and the drivers
3) Do a fresh install and restart again
4) Plug in your phone via the USB data cable, make sure phone is on and set to Data Mode or whatever its called.
5) Now your phone wizard should screw up and not work so...
6) Turn off the phone, now only the battery should still be charging via the cable. You'll hear your computer disconnect via the USB disconnect alert sound.
7) LOL now try the wizard and it should connect to the phone.
8) After the connection is established now when you try to click on Contacts etc. it will say the phone is not active or something to that efffect. LOL now turn on the KU990 and your phone will display "Phone Agent connected" and now it should be able to cleanly, stably and happily access the data on the phone.
ITS A TOTALLY SCREWED UP WAY OF ESTABLISHING A CONNECTION TO THE PHONE BUT HEY ITS LG AND ITS JUST A MATTER OF DETERMINING THE SEQUENCE WITH WHICH TO START EACH THING AND CLICK ON WHAT ETC, MOST OF THE TIME WITH THESE USB THINGS ITS LIKE THIS. AND NOW I'VE LEARNED MY LESSON, AFTER 2 YEARS I'M GOING BACK TO SONY. Thanks LG your the most ridiculous company i've ever experienced

If u want only to download photos / music / vids from PC to phone or from the phone to PC u dont need the PC suite...just go to " mass storage data " and that is it ! is like a mass storage data, like a MP3/MP4 player...and open the folders u have there and take / put photos / music from PC to phone / from phone to PC.

Right this is how u do it, 1st the phone aint compatable with vista so u need to get a memory card, if u have it, then u need to change the phone settings - connectivity - usb connection to mass storage (not data service) then ur phone is a memory card reader too so when u connect it to the computer just go to ur computer and find ur phone there, its so much easyer but dont use a memory card no bigger than a 2gb or apparently it wont work (thats what the lg company said) mine works great now yay finally.

Eventually I have managed to syncronise the PC and the LG phone and enabled the transfer of files from the phone to the computer. This is what I did :
1- started the LG suite with the phone in standby
2- clicked on the synk configuration button
3- cleared all the squares except "Contacts", replacing MS Outlook with Outlook Express
4- clicked on the "syncronise now" button and the syncronisation was successfull.
after that, I activated LG PC Suite, the LG window came up in the computer and I was able to copy the files from the LG to My Documents by just moving them with the mouse pointer.
Now I can open the .JPG and .DivX files in my computer OK, but I can not open the .3GP files because Windows does not recognise them.
I hope this may be of help.

Hello every one .i m Idrees & i currently use the LG viewty.i have the same problem but i gonna fix it. I have an another solution
you can perchase a two things:
1: One Memory Card of space 1GB r higher
2: Memory card reader (both are not expensive)(i bought both of these in 500 Pakistani Rupees)
SOLUTION: first of all you swicth off the mobile, remove the battery cover & then remove the battery. Now insert the memory card at given position in the mobile then fix the battery, Swicth on the mobile.
Now u select all the pics (u have the option to select pics in the menue bar) and send/copy it to memory card/external memory.it is very easy but u can do ones a time u can familiar that. Now again switch off the mobile remove the memory card & insert the memory card into memory card reader & connect the memory card reader to your COMPUTE & enjoy.

I worked it out!!! You have to go to settings>connectivity>USB connection> then click data service. If you change it, click the connection wizard and it will detect it.

The idle screen is the main screen of your compurter (were all the icons are).
Once you pset up the program on the computer with the disc, you connect your phone and go into the program click on (content) then minimise everthing you have open straight away and wait and it should work...
I hope it was a help...

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
