Hai.....
There is a problem with the rear access door.First of all check if it is closed or fitted properly , else proceed next.

The L7480 usually has a duplexer which has a rear access panel on it but this is NOT the panel that the printer detects as open.

In the L7480 anything that is connected/slotted into the rear slot/hole is considered to be the rear access panel. This means the duplexer (which is standard on the L7780) is seen as the "rear access panel".

Stand looking at the back of the printer
Inside the slot on the right side you will see a green circuit board with four metal contacts on it. Check that these are not soiled or damaged in any way. Clean if necessary.

On the right side of the dupler you will see only TWO metal pins that spring out and should make contact with two of the contact points. It's possible that these are damaged and/or broken. You may need to free, re-bend, etc... these CAREFULLY so that they stick out properly. Ultimately the goal is to ensure that the metal pins touch the appropriate contacts on the circuit board.

If all else fails, check your warranty and contact HP to see if they can provide a replacement duplexer. If the circuit board itself (in the printer) is damaged though you may need to return the printer itself.

Hope that helps.

If you need a manual help opening up your printer , get it here.

Regards........

My brand new hp 8500 wireless office ink jet printer say open the carriage access door clear the jam. We took the small 2 ink cartiages out and put them in again and this keeps come up.What do we do now?...

Why are you taking out the ink cartridges??
The message says to open the carriage access door and clear the jam. The printer thinks that paper is stuck in the paper path, see if you can find it. I believe that there is also a rear door on that printer, remove it and look inside.

Hp Officejet L7480 false paper jam message. Resetting the printer has no effect.

Hp paper jam error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.

Hp L7480 Keeps printing an alignment test page everytime it is turned on. I now there is a key, something like # something that stops this from happening, I read it somewhere and fixed it the last time it...

I suggest that you uninstall the device and unplug it from your computer, then, use the installation disk and re-install the drivers, then plug er right back in.
You shouldnt have to have the print test page at bootup or startup every time...

We keep getting a message -paper jam check open rear door. checked, no paper jam, opening and closing rear door will allow the print job to go through. It will work for a few print jobs, then the same...

It's probably a sensor on the fuser. There are 2 and sometimes they get stuck and just closing the rear door hard will release it. Replace the fuser.

Says there is a paper jam but there isnt - have looked and looked - can I overide it?

Possible problems:
- Tiny paper or something is stuck in your printer.
- Your printer roller may have dirt on it.

Solutions:
-There may be a very tiny bit of paper stuck somewhere - look very carefully. Also, open all areas and then close them - sometimes a printer has to have that before it resets from a jam. Check your paper to see if it is being grabbed by the rollers. if they are dirty or worn, the paper will not catch and the printer thinks it is jammed. wipe the rollers with a bit of alcohol on a paper towel (barely damp) if that is the case.

Document feeder door open

The doc feeder is the one on top, there's a sensor in the hinge at the rear. If the tab is broken from the top cover, you need to fold a piece of paper and put it inside the horse shoe shaped sensor to get past the error.

Paper jam. we removed the major portion of it. bit of paper is inside. we can't find out that. display shows 13.20.00. we removed front and back except toner catridge. what we have to do.

Try this linke below.
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=411171&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=411171&objectID=c00642524

Or i cut and paste text, but you should view pictures. If you cannot get to it from link. Try typing "Paper jams alternating between front and back door" It should be first link from HP about a 3550.

HP Color LaserJet 3500, 3550, and 3700 Series Printers - Paper Jams Alternating Between Front and Back Door Issue Description Customers may see paper jams error messages with no paper seen in the paper path. The message will alternate between check the front door and the back door. Workaround The release lever engagement tabs on the rear door can be bumped into the in-correct position. The purpose for this tab is to re-engage the fuser release levers as the rear door is closed. When one or both of these are left in the in-correct position the printer goes into a cycle of alternating between a "Jam in the Front Door" message and "Jam in the Rear Door" message. There is no paper present in the paper path when this happens. When a customer gets the "Jam in the Front Door" message and opens the front door, no paper is found. After the customer closes the front door, they get the "Jam in the Rear Door" message. When they open the rear door, find not paper (even pull out the fuser), and close the rear door, they get the "Jam in the Front Door" message. This cycle will continue

Placing both engagement tabs in the "Correct" position solves the problem and allows the print job to continue.for as long as the customer is willing to keep checking.
