SOURCE: GE Spacesaver doesn't heat

if you are as lucky as i was...i have a ge spacesaver model jvm130...same problem. first unplug unit and check fuse on the "power control module". if fuse is ok...unscrew the screws holding the "power control module" in place...carefully tilt module and see if a solder joint needs to be re-soldered. my problem was the solder joint under the front plug (5 large wire plug). you may have to unplug the three connectors to the board to get access to bottom. this is the second time i had to re-solder...last one was several years ago though. best of luck tennisrme

SOURCE: GE Spacesaver over the range microwave oven

GE Microwave ovens, and Microwave Ovens produced by GE but released under different brand names, have had several power problems for the past 20 years. Because it is so easy to sell parts and charge outrageous rates for repair GE never corrected the problems. They just continued it in the next model. They found that you would most likely purchase a new unit rather than paying $75. for a service charge, and $150. for labor plus parts (if out of warranty period).
Most failures were cold solder connections on the power relay board. These would come completely dis-connected after arcing and burning away the solder. Could be 1 month, could be years, but they knew it would happen. This power relay board feeds 120volts to the LV (low voltage) side of the HV (high voltage) Transformer. No High Voltage,,No cook. Everything seems to run normal, but if you listen carefully you will not hear the low tone from the HV Transformer. Over my thirty years in the business I have re-soldered rather than replace so many I couldn't count.
Next to that, a defective Magnetron.

Why does my GE Spacesaver Profile, Microwave/Convection Oven, model # JVM1490SD003, in my motorhome, make a clicking noise when I start it up? Sounds like a fan hitting something. The noise goes away

Probably is the fan tapping something. Power it down/DISCONNECT power. pull unit and if there is a cover, remove it. look for the convection fan and see if it free-spins. should find spot where it is hitting and could be adjusted.

How to change the inside bulb in a ge spacemaker microwave that has a top vent fan

My Spacesaver bulb replaces from the top. You have to remove 2 screws that hold the upper vent cover. W/ cover off you will find a phillips head screw about the center that holds the bulb cover. Remove the cover screw & lift up & remove the cover, then replace the bulb, the cover & screw then put the vent cover & it's 2 screws back. There may be some variance but they are all similar.

How do i remove the plastic cover to change the light bulb in GE Microwave

Hi, I have a ge modle jvm1631 and mine has two scerws in the front of the cover (can be hard to see in dim light) on some modles you might have to have door open and screws will go in from bottom of cover. Then there is a filter inside that you take out and remove a metal plate that covers bulb.

Heat doesn't come on in microwave

If you have the experience with discharging a capacitor and you have a (VOM) Volt Olm Meter. Unplug microwave, discharge capacitor, and check the resistance of the two thermal cut-off discs by removing the lead and set VOM to RX1. If you don't get a reading of zero, replace the discs. For part go to www.partselect.com and enter your model number. If you found any of these suggestions helpful, please rate my solution. D. Lange

GE XL 1800 quit heating

I don't like to pass on your problem but it sounds very much like either the high voltage supply ot the magnetron has bit the dust.
Either one would make the repair marginal at best.

This is apparently not a very good unit, many microwaves jsut kind of fade away as their magnetron emissions decay.

This one seems to have a bad rep. look at this link:

Sorry, have owned a lemon or two myself.

Microwave oven

I would check the area around the ceiling of the microwave. There may be grease of other food buildup on the waveguide cover, which can be cleaned. Or the stirrer may be sticking or arcing, which would need to be replaced. This unit may be subject to post-manufacturing modifications, requiring a few new parts. You might check on this with GE Customer Relations at 1-800-386-1215 (8-6 ET). If they cover the cost of parts, great. If not, you can get them cheaper here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383 Feel free to see my site for my safety & disassembly files.
