Here i am in desperation, please help me if you can. I have an 80gig
zune which has been working fine since i got it new 2months ago. I left
it on charge, then when i came to use it, it had frozen ( 1st time). I
looked the problem up on net, so i followed the instructions and did a
restart, this gave me an error 5 screen, also frozen. So now i followed
the advice given to restore zune device software (

i had this problem too, i would plug the zune into the computer trough usb cord, and have your zune home page come up automatically if it doesnt click the zune software shortcut. Go to top corner and go to settings, after that go to device and syce options. finally you need to press erase all content and your zune will be clean and rebooted up. when i did this my zune turned on and was back to normal, the only thing that sucked was that it took so long for me to figure this out and i had to syce everything back on my zune agian

If your zune (4, 8, 16, 80, or 120 gig) is starting to freeze more and more and wont load up all the way and uv tried reseting it multiple times and it still dose the same thing? i will tell you how to fix that sittuation.
first of i will have to warn you in doing this you are deleting EVERYTHING from your zune. remember you are at your own risk in doing this and i sugjest that you read the whole thing befor attempting to reset anything
if you are desperate or interested lets beging
step 1. wait for your zune to turn on wile its on you reset you zune
(hold the back button wile holding up on the touchpad)
step 2. once it starts to load the fireware (the screen will show the zune symbal and a loading bar at the bottom of the screen) you must hold the back botton, the senter of the touch pad and the play button. remember to hold all 3 of the buttons once the zune icon apears on your zune.
hold it until a speane apears that says "3 please wait" when that screen apears you can let go of the buttons.
step3 the zune will tehn say to open up zune program and plug your zune into your computer
tip. it is best to have the most updated zune software you can have on there. vistas may not ba able to have the MOST up todate software because of issues with the software on vista and zune 4.0
once you plug it in it will automatically start to download the zune fireware onto you zune. when it has finished uploading the fireware just go threw the zune steps. at this point you pretty much have a new zune. meaning you need to link it to your account on zune and name you zune and the most obvoius you need to re-upload your files and things onto you zune.
note you need an internet conection to download the fireware for you zune.
hope this will help you with your zune issues. this also help if you are desperate and forgot your password but note recomended if you have another option.
Disassemble and disconnect the battery for about 10 seconds. All Zune 30's apparently siezed this AM. MS is working on their solution, not sure when it will come out. The battery disconnect is at least a temp fix. Mine works fine after doing it.
To do this, use a small screwdriver to pop off the plastic shielding where
the Zune cable plugs into and remove the two screws on either side of the plug.
Next pop the cover off and locate the battery plug at the top left corner of the Zune, using your screw driver, pop the cable connection half way off, and do
this to the other plug on the right side. Wait 3 seconds, then push down the
right connector and then the left battery connector. Your Zune should start up
immediately. Press the backing of the Zune down (make sure headphone jack is
aligned) and put the screws and cover back in place.
It's an easy process but if you're unsure don't attempt it.
One last ditch effort: Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
And, yeah, as far as the international replacement - that is how all the manufacturers are - they are not willing to pay the cost to keep their customers. Also, they have no process in place for fulfilling such a request, even if they have offices in both countries (which most of them do). Sad, really.
