I'm building a ported box for a single jl6w3. I've ran the specs and come up with 1.5"x12" aero port. That seems small with lots of port noise to me. Anyone have any experience with these guys??

you can verify that the ported enclosure is properly vented by imputting the thiele-small parameters of the driver, as well as the cabinet specs, into a freeware program called hornresp.

How do I build a box for 4 15" black Mombasa

Where do you want to put the box? What are the Thiele Small parameters for the drivers? What kind of music do you listen to? What kind of woodworking expertise do you have? I'll try to look up the factory specs for "Black Mombosa" 15 inch woofers (is this it? http://www.amazon.com/Q-POWER-BM15D4-Black-Magnet-Subwoofer/dp/B00C86R2VY), but still need answers to the other questions before I can even start to help.

Can a kicker cvr be fixed if it is blown if so how

Speaker lesson here. For space and time, I'll not get into certain nomenclature. Working from top to bottom, you have the cone, rubber surround, basket, spider, voic coil former, voice coil, and the magnet. The binding posts are connected to the tensil leads which connect to the spider and the voice coil. As the woofer is positively + and negatively - charged, it creates a magnetic field which moves the woofer up and down. There is a small gap between the magnet and the voice coil and former that's called a magnetic gap. This gap is what helps the speaker to move up and down, and creates the Xmax. The Xmax of the woofer is the maximum linear excursion the woofer can travel without causing permanent damage. With a blown speaker, normally the voice coil and voice coil former have been pushed out of the correct magnetic gap, usually around the top of the magnet. That means that the only way to fix it is to take the woofer completely apart. My suggestion is to just go and spend the money. A blown speaker is a sign of abuse, and voids warranties from the majority of companies out there to include Kicker.

MA audio HK 12 competetion subwoofer, the 1500 rms one, what is the ''Fs'' on that thing? There website doesn't tell me. Any guesses if you can't find the answer?

Fs is a thiele-small parameter, meaning resonance. You can use these parameters to simulate the woofer's bass response in different boxes etc.

I have 2 12 inch kickers and have a solid box in my mustang. would it sound better if it was ported?

Kicker speakers always require very large boxes (you're looking at 12 cubic feet for both), when ported. Ported boxes are very sensitive to box size, port tuning etc, so it's probably best to leave it sealed, as they are far more leniant, and sealed boxes are usually 1/2 size of ported boxes. You would get less bass when ported than with sealed (because ported boxes must be bigger to match the sealed ones).

If you wish to experiment with the bass response of speakers, download winISD, and put your speakers in, see what size boxes give you what.

Woofer assistance

You need to buy an active (self-amplified) subwoofer. Attach it to the Subwoofer Preout connector.

Go into Speaker Setup (SP SYS/SETUP Button near upper right side of Op Panel) and follow the prompts.

The parameter we're most interested in is the question "Subwoofer Yes" or "No".

Some guidance when selecting speaker parameters for the rest of the channels:

SMALL vs LARGE: This has nothing to do with size so much as it deals with the BASS handling capacity of the speakers. If you say SMALL, most low frequencies from those channels will be re-routed from them to the Subwoofer. If you say LARGE the channels will still get the low frequencies they deserve.

I imagine you would be able to answer LARGE for all of your speakers.

Even if you have all LARGE speakers defined the Sub will still have work to do as it will be dealt the LFE (Low Frequency Effects) from encoded movies and all or most of the content below certain frequencies.

Theile/small parameters

I believe this is the site you want; http://www.thielesmall.com/ they have lots of t/s info they only have data for a kfc-w2500, but you can post your request and i believe you have a better chance there this forum; http://www.decware.com/forums/General/posts/3736.html talks about a 0.8 cubic foot sealed enclosure if that helps you out at all. Hope it helps - please ask again if not - there are more sites. :)
