Question about Acer Aspire One Netbook 8.9" Notebook

2 Answers

Hello, I have had an Acer Aspire One ZG8 10.1" notebook for 1 year and a month now, so it's out of warranty. The problem I am having is that after about an hour I get a strange clicking noise coming from the bottom of the notebook, it then just switches itself off. I took it to a repair shop today and he said that it sounds like a problem with the fan and that it would cost more than what the notebook does to get it repaired. So I decided to take this up myself, I'd rather not pay more than the actual price of the notebook. What do you think the problem is, and how can I fix it?

If it is the fan like he says, you will need to open up your laptop and being that they are so small and impacted, you will see the fan right away. It should have a small plug going to the board, pull the small plug and you may need to unscrew the fan. you will need to go to a computer store and take the part with you to make sure that you get the correct fan. Pull gently on the cord, do not tug. There is most likely a "clip" at the end holding it on and you will need to pinch this to get it unplugged. Install the new fan exactly opposite that you took it out. Always use caution when opening your laptop as there is always a shock risk. Also be careful to not damage any other parts while you are trying to remove the fan. Many of these parts are very delicate and damage easily. Let me know how this goes for you... Good Luck!

Aspire one netbook 3 cell battery 8 months old only will charge to 80%

Hello,

Contact Acer and they will replace it free providing you can produce a proof of purchase less than one year old. Those netbooks have one year parts and labour warranty on them and Acer is very good about replacements like this.It shouldn't be a problem.

Hope this helps!

Joe

My Acer Aspire 3935 camera not working.

If it isn't a software problem, then it's a hardware problem. As your notebook is only 1 month old, I would recommend contacting the place where you bought it, or contacting Acer directly, as you are still under your warranty period.

Hope this helps, if so, please rate :)

Hello there:
this really depends on what the warranty was and what it covered ,t when you purchased the computer
most computers come with a standard 6 or 12 month warranty and if you buy the extended warranty this could be a 3 or 5 year warranty so i would try to contact the acer tech help department and they will ask you for the model number so if you can give them tyhis this will help and they will be able to pull up the computer information ok?

My touchpad stopped working on my Aspire 5720z sinced last week and I my laptop just a year old this month. Can you please help me

If it is still in warranty, as Acer has a one year warranty, you can take it to your local Best Buy for repairs, you will need your receipt though.
You can go and check to see if your laptop is still in warranty by going to Acre's website and select support, www.acer.com.
Good Luck.

Turning off

Do not walk but run to the phone & call Acer, (See you're manual for phone numbers). Before you're 1 year warranty is up.
After that it will cost you dearly for a repair. All notebooks & most PC's come with a 1 year warranty. Unless you bought a used notebook. They are warranted for about 90 days.

Notebooks turn off for a reason, usually from over heating. Acer is no fun to deal with so be firm!
If I suggest a way to repair you're notbook you might miss the chance to have the Acer Co. fix the notebook.
Please make the call!

Good Luck!
Post back if you get the chance & let me know what Acer has suggested........

LCD INVERTER

FYI,
If your lcd is cracked, your warranty is gone. It doesn't matter if it is accident or not, because it is user fault. Unless you have 3 year total warranty from acer, they will repair it.
