Make sure all is plugged in correctly. Then go to your modem and reset it, just unplug the power to the modem for about 10 seconds and retry, if you have wireless, do the same to the wireless router, unplug and try again. If this still does not work you may need to refresh your ip address. To do this go to the computer that is not working and type in the following... go to start and in the search box type cmd. a black box will come up with C:....... type in there ipconfig /release it will go thru a series of lines then give you the C: again next type this... ipconfig /release this will renew your ip address and hopefully allow you to connect once again. Let me know if this works or not. If not we'll try something else

Connection loss

Watch what else is going on in the house when the connection is lost. Microwave ovens and cordless phones will disrupt the connection . How far is the router from the TV? You might try elevating the router if it's neat the floor. The higher off the ground the router is the farther the signals will go. Yo may need to upgrade the speed of your service if it isn't the highest speed available.

You need to call the internet provider. They more than likely have a different protocol to set up in order for your internet to work.

You can only connect to internet if someone is sharing their Wifi. If it is password protected, you won't have any luck. You're best off heading to Starbucks or McDonalds for free Wifi to connect to the internet.

How do i ground my antenna base or mobile ?

If you're using it in a car the antenna makes contact with the body of the car either through the magnetic base, if you're using one, or the metal clip if that's how you attached the antenna to the car. Either way the contact between the antenna and the body of the car acts as a ground.

If you're using it in your house it depends on the type of antenna you're using. Home base antennas have spikes that stick out from the base of the antenna. These act as a ground. If you're using a mobile antenna in your house, which will not give you a great signal, you need to connect it to something metal. Linking the body of the transceiver to the copper piping of your central heating or water heating system provides a good ground for the radio. As the ground of the antenna is connected to the metal of the transceiver body this is the same as grounding the antenna. Even if you're using a proper homebase antenna it's still a good idea to earth the radio as it improves the signal and reduces noise interference

If you're using the CB on a ground floor you may be able to run an earth braid wire outside and put a metal spike in the ground and connect it with your earth braid. Connect the other end of the earth braid to the metal on the body of your radio. NOTE: When connecting an earth to the body of your radio it must not be a painted part of the radio. You could drill a small hole in the body if necessary and put a nut and bolt through it to connect to the earth wire.

I hope this answers your question.

I have an old Victorian house with an apartment in the back above the barn/garage. I am trying to get wireless internet connections to all sections of the house but my current router (3 years old) is not...

Hello.

Yes. As you mentioned, you have a Victorian house, with very thick walls. I'd suggest drawing a diagram showing the rooms and floors that need access.

First, if possible, I would place your router in a centralized location, if all 5 people need similar strength access.

Then what you need are multiple repeaters to go with your router. Place them strategically, so that the wireless access signal can bounce off of them and go around walls, instead of through walls and floors.

Hope this helps.
