Should be able to from Dell Support. (Free) Need to know the Model Number of your Dell Dimension, for me to give you an exact link. Post in a Comment. (Should be by the Power On button) Or, here is Dell Support,http://support.dell.com/ (On this page go to the left side column, click on Manuals. Then in the small window that appears, click on Desktops, Dimension, then scroll to click on the Model Number. Click on User Manual, or Service Manual {View} Then on English )

When i start up my dimension 3100 dell desktop instead of a green light i get a flashing amber light. people say it is the power supply but the light wouldnt even come on if it was. can you please help me?

No, the light WOULD come on if it was a Power Supply problem.

1) If ALL of the LED lights on your computer were on at once, they would use less than 1 Watt of power.

2) EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts.

3) A typical Processor uses from 51 to 125 Watts. Depends on what Processor it is.

Dell Dimension 3100 desktop computer?
An Intel Pentium 4.

Intel Pentium 4 model 640.
Can operate up to a frequency rate of 3.2GigaHertz. (3.2GHz)
Fits in a Socket 775 processor socket. (Also know as Socket T)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Pentium_4_microprocessors#Prescott_2M_.2890.C2.A0nm.29

Can use up to 84 Watts.

You have enough power to light that LED light, but not enough power to turn the Processor on.

I have a dimension 2400. the current processor is a pentium 4 2.2 can i swap the processor with a intel core duo ??

After checking the specs of this here : http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim2400/en/sm_en/specs.htm

i can confirm that a intel core duo would not be supported without changing the motherboard, and probably the memory too.

What Pentium 4 processor would be most appropriate upgrade for Dell Dimension 2400 Desktop,2.4 celeron?

Intel® Pentium® 4 that runs at 2.2 or 2.4 GHz internally and 400 MHz externally, or 2.266, 2.4, 2.53, 2.66, 2.8, or 3.06 GHz internally and 533 MHz externally.

Check this website: http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...m_en/specs.htm for more information.

What you need to remember is that your motherboard only supports northwood core cpus.

I bought a pentium 4 3.0 ghz 800 mhz & my

The motherboard chipset of the Dell Dimension 2300 Desktop PC, will not support a processor with an 800MHz Front Side Bus frequency rate.

Only Intel Pentium 4's that use a Socket 478, 1.75 Volts, and a maximum of a 400MHz FSB.

The Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.0GHz processor has an 800MHz FSB, (As you have already stated), and uses 1.475 to 1.55 Volts.

The motherboard chipset for that Dell Dimension 2300, is an Intel 845GL.

This list on Wikipedia, shows you parameters the Intel 845GL chipset supports,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_Chipsets

Not a good outcome, sorry. Just stating the facts.

What is the service tag? Pentium 4 2.8 GHz is the fastest they put in them according to Dell, but not all of them have the hardware to support the 533MHz Front side bus.

Dell Dimension 8200 Processor

hi, i also hav a dimensions 8200 which i recently uprgaded to a 2.8gh, but i discovered there were two versions of this system one which supports a 400FSB and the other 533FSB, these can determine the speed of ur cpu. Like you, I havent been able to unlock my clock speeds in the bios but i think you should be able to get more from ur new cpu by updating ur bios version to A09. check the dell site for more info on how to do this.
