Question about Rockford Fosgate Power 1001BD Car Audio Amplifier

Open Question

Hi, I have a rockford rocket power 1001bd I use to power it up with my two 12" T1D4 at one stable. When I replacing with a T10001bd it's a 2004 model about two months later I hook it up back my 1001bd and it doesn't power up any more, I mean the power light is not light anymore. I don't know what's wrong with it. I also have another problem with my system when hook it up with my 10001bd I couldn't crank up my volume more than 12 or the subwoofer will shut off. I will have to shut my deck and start it again to get the bass again. All the wire are 0 gauge power with one farad digital rockford fosgate and a 0 gauge ground with four gauge speaker wire. Any suggestion or help with my system will be very helpful, thankyou. Also another thing I did try to hook to a different amp, an alpine 1000watts digital mono block and still have the same problem, please help thank a lot.

SOURCE: when my bass hits, my car lights flicker.

Is the problem much more noticeable when the car is at idle? Double check that Alternator output. 70 amps is not high output, and if the problem is especially noticeable at idle, it's probably due to the alternator putting out lower voltage( a common thing with alternators). Also, with that much draw from your sub amp, the wire from battery to alternator should be beefed up, as well as the ground wire from battery. You can make up your own cables by purchasing the wire to length and wire lugs at a local Welding shop, 4 gauge from alternator to battery is good. High output aftermarket Alternators shoot into the 200 amp range.

Rockford T10001bd: Capacitor buzzing

If the top is split open, it has vented electrolyte. This is most commonly caused by more serious problems in an amp. Do the other adjacent caps show any signs of damage?

Is it blowing fuses? Connect a 20 amp fuse in-line with the B+ line of the amp. If it blows the fuse, the amp is drawing excessive current and most likely has more serious damage than the single vented cap.

It sounds like you've got a short to ground in either your power line or internally in your amp. Either that or the fuse on your amp (usually right on the side) might be blown. Check your power line and make sure that your amp isn't screwed directly to any metal parts of your car, as some amps will short like this. If there's nothing wrong with the power line, send it in for warranty or bring it to your local audio store to have them check it. If you feel comfortable with trying to fix it yourself, then take it apart but be advised that internal screws usually have a glued spot so they can tell if you've disassembled it.
