Printer shows jam when there is none, press the check and it prints OK

That type of problem is called a phantom paper jam and is caused by the printer not picking up the paper like it should. When the print job is sent to the printer the pickup rollers turn and should grab the top sheet of paper and feed it into the printer. When the rollers get worn down and slick they can not grab the paper right so you get the error message. When you retry the rollers may be able to grab the paper and the job goes through. To correct this intermittent problem you will need to replace the pickup rollers and separation pads. This is easy to do for the end user no need to send the printer in for service. The paper partially feeds in the upper tray and then you hear a grinding noise and it says scanner failure

clean the rollers
Used a clean paper
Open the area the paper feeds in on the scanner
lift the roller
without paper try to make a copy
press the flag-like hardware part on the ground portion of the scanner feeder
then forcefully put the whiteroller to the ground as if its trying to make a copy without the paper
to test if its working fine while you are pressing down the flag structure on the ground area also do it 2x

- wipe the rollers
- specially the one that feeds up the paper
try to scan again
- in case no go
= remove all removable parts
paper, cartridges ,black box and power supply
lift the printer turn it upside down makse sure the cover is open
so taht any foreign material will fall
shake it for 5x
return all the parts
- in case no go
have a printer repair on your area
usually its only on the rollers

- Hope it help

Hi! Having 2 problems with printer. Lexmark 3100. 1) When it scans, there is a black bar accross the scan covering up the b&w copy. Can't get rid of it 2) The paper won't feed. At the first stop, it is...

Sounds like you need to get a scanner cleaning kit to clean the scanning window. There might be a lot of junk on it.

As for the automatic feeder, the roller is most likely "extremely well used". You can try to use a chalkboard eraser on the roller to see if you can get it to grab paper again (I know, it sounds silly, but it does work). You will have to pull the roller out of the scanner in order to use the eraser.

Not sure how old your particular Lexmark is, but I see that these models were first released in 2001. You could try to order replacement parts for the printer.

Canon IP4000 won't grab the paper

if you take the paper out and the paper tray if possible and get some wd40 and a cotton pad or some pad to use to wipe the wd40 onto the rollers ( only a small amount as you dont want to drench the rollers with wd40 ) and let it dry out for a few mins and then try it again.

If its the rollers then that should help

I have a fujitsu 4120 scanner that will not pull the paper even after i changed the roller and pad.

Hello,

Does the scanner displays any error message on the scanner panel? Is there any TWAIN error message?

If paper jam occurs, U1 error will be displayed on the scanner panel and TWAIN driver will display " Paper jam the ADF (Code DS32002)" error message.

This error is detected when one of the followings occurs:

1) A document does not reach the TOP sensor while the scanner has transported the document about 250 mm to pick. (The scanner
performs retry operation.)

2) The trailing edge of a document does not reach the TOP sensor after the scanner transports the document by the length (L) below. (The document may have slipped on the rollers) Scan condition Transported length.

In order to assist you with your scanner issue, Please provide the issue details with error message.

If nothing is being displayed, then the issue could be due to failure in Pick Motor function or Pick Sensor malfunction.

Hope the above information is helpful.

Thank you for contacting FixYa.

Regards,

TechSatya

Paper jam message, but actually no paper jam

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.

4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

Hp 896 cse. The paper feed is not working.

Can you get to the pick up roller? is it putting out paper at all? Clean the roller with a cotton swab and rubbing or denatured alcohol. Sometimes paper dust will build up on the roller and it cant grab the paper. All check and see that the roller is trying to turn. RUle out mechanical failure.

Hp 3310 paper feed

Take off the back of the printer - there is a door running almost the full length which has a latch. Using regular rubbing alcohol and a Q-TIP(R) cotton swab, clean the little rubber rollers which grab the paper from the tray. The rollers you need to clean will be low and on the left as you look at the back of the printer and they are about 2 inches inside the printer. There are 2 of them. Paper dust builds up on them and they fail to grab the next sheet of paper, causing the error message. Works every time!

Paper keeps getting jammed in MP460

I had the same paper feed grabbing problem on pixma MP 610 printers - take a flashlight and look down into the feed rollers inside - deep - I found a paperclip in one and a hair clip in another - you need a pair of very fine pincer pliers to extract so you dont damage the roller assembly's made of plastic - and voila no more misfeeds and grabbing on the right side - hint - dont put anything on top of the printers because when you lift the scanner cover, it nicely slides anyting on top into the paper feed assembly and results in a jam

Canon ip90 printer wont grab paper

The most likely culprit is that the rollers that pull the paper are dirty. Use the steps below to clean the rollers.

If paper does not feed correctly, perform the following to clean the paper feed rollers:
1) Confirm that the printer is powered on.
2) Remove any paper from the printer.
3) Press and hold the <Resume/Cancel> button.
4) Release the <Resume/Cancel> button after the Power lamp blinks three times.

Note: The Power lamp will blink and the paper feed roller starts cleaning itself by revolving.
5) When the Power lamp lights in green, repeat Steps 3 and 4 up to two additional times. (Please wait approx. 30 seconds for paper feed roller cleaning to complete.)
6) To confirm whether cleaning has been performed properly, set a blank sheet of plain paper (8 1/2 x 11 Letter size) in the sheet feeder or cassette.
7) Press and hold the <Resume/Cancel> button and release it when the Power lamp blinks three times. (The paper set in the printer is picked up and fed.)
8) Repeat the process as necessary
