Why am I getting a "memory full" error when my memory card is not full?

Try formatting the card with the camera menu. This is always safer when you buy a new card. If that doesn't work take the card back

When I turn on my olympus sp-500uz it often goes straight to card setup when i turn it on. I often lose the pictures that I have on the card because I have no choice but "POWER OFF" or "FORMAT" and when I...

I'm afraid you have a bad memory card. Would be better to buy a new one. see it as an extra. They are not that expensive today.
And if your camera tells you to format, first switch off the camera. Then remove the card and try to read the pictures to your computer first. There are programs can recover pictures, your camera can't show.
see these links if you don't already have recover software.
www.cardrecovery.com www.wondershare.net with free trail
www.cardrescue.com with free evaluation version
Take care you never remove the card before switching off the camera complete and wait till no light is on or blinking.
When you switch of the camera it could be it has to access the memory card, to write the last info it still had in its internal memory. they is when a light goes on or blinks. If you then remove the card or the battery, your file structure can be damaged very easy.
Most camera's show a light when the camera is accessing the memory.

My casio exilim got virus and im unable to see my files. And it only contains of virus files that cant open. what can i do to solve this kind of problem?

All digital cameras I've ever seen do not run unsigned code (or any code for that matter) so it's very highly unlikely (or impossible) that your camera has a virus. It's probably just broken.

Put a different memory card into your camera and take a picture. If it doesn't work normally then your camera is likely broken. If it works normally then your original memory card is corrupt. If that's the case use a memory card reader (sold at Staples/Amazon/CVS) and try a program like Card Recovery, Digital Picture Recovery, or ZAR. You can usually get everything back if you didn't already overwrite everything by trying to take a bunch of pictures on a corrupt card.

If the camera itself is broken, just buy a memory card reader and get the pictures off through a computer or you can just go to a photo kiosk at any pharmacy. If you want to fix the camera, buy the parts online or buy that identical used camera from eBay in an As-is auction for next to nothing and swap parts with your own. Personally, I would just buy a new camera though. They're cheap.

How to initialized this card with out losing my pictures.

Not sure what you mean here. Have you already initialised the card and lost photos or do you want to initialise it without losing pictures already on it?
If it's the first part you need to use some recovery software to get your pictures back.
If its the second - you can't. Initialising a card will wipe the photos - and then you are back at 1 and will have to use some recovery software.
The only way you can do it is to copy all the photos off the card first - then it doesn'r matter.
Alternatively - buy another card.

What to do when it says internal memory full

Delete some pictures off you camera. It means that there is no more room on your memory.

Make sure to transfer them to a computer, before you delete them, as you wouldn't want to lose precious memories.

When i turn the camera on it wants me to format the memory card. if i format it, i will lose all of my pictures that are on the card. how do i not format it and not lose my pictures?

Simple...buy an inexpensive card reader and download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop. Then, format the card in the camera.

CAN'T RETRIEVE PICTURES FROM MEMORY CARD

Hii

  • Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  • 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  • 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  • 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  • 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  • 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

  • Thanks

I can't get to my pictures!

did you buy a memory card along with your camera? I got the camera and they threw in a memory card with it for free. I now know why. My pictures will not always save onto this memory card. i took the memory card out of my old camera and put it in this one, and, the pictures saved. strangely, when i put my new card back in my new camera and took a picture; it saved to it again!
so i believe this could work for you. it sucks. you lose the pictures. but atleast the camera does not have to just be thrown away.

    Memory card

yes Formatting will erase everything on the card. The 2 cameras probably use different formats or even different qualities. You should upload pictures before switching the card between cameras. Hope this helps
