Question about Dell OptiPlex GX240 PC Desktop

1 Answer

Originally a GX150 but board died and I installed a GX240 board and replaced the connecting cable for the front panel controls (switch etc). Seems to work fine except that it intermittently loses the optical drive in the bios . Checked the weird combination power/interface cable and connectors seem well connected. Is this likely to be a cable failing or a drive problem or bios issue? I have no spare cable or drive to test with and hate to buy a bunch of parts just to find the bios might be the problem. TIA

Your problem has nothing to do with the front panel connections. Maybe it's a cd rom's problem, ATA cable problem or bios settings problem. First of all make sure that your drive is set up correctly as primary or slave at the channel. Some motherboards have problems when the cd rom is master and the hard disk is slave. If the master - slave is correct, check the bios settings and, if the problem exists, avoid AUTO settings; change the proper channel at cd/dvd rom.
In case of a problem post me back your drives configuration too (hard disks and cd/dvd rom).

How to bypass power button on dell gx150

See http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx150/en/ug/about.htm#inside for a view of the internal connections for the Dell GX150 motherboard and front panel connector.
You would need to try to identify which wires on the front connector pin block are used for the power switch then use a meter to check whether the switch makes a temporary or permanent connection between those pins to know whether you could just jumper them or not.

first, can you run the units diagnostics from the tech sheet located inside the unit in an envelope(should be located near the top)of the unit if so this should pinpoint your problem, then remove any and all cables especially the smaller ribbon signal cables,as moisture is a big culprit of these problems in electronically controlled washing machines (one at a time) and then clean off and inspect for moisture, corrosion, etc.and wiggle their connections carefully as you re-install them,if these don;t help, then its your interface keypad in the front, main control board,or the motor control board in the bottom near the motor thats bad and needs replacing

I have a old whlipool range. The control panel says F2 E1. I cannot fix the panel to the clock or bake etc etc. However the burners come on and it keeps beeping. I had to unplug the stove. What can I...

F2 - E1 Keypad cable unplugged 1. Check keypad connector for firm connection (keypad connects to control board).
2. Press CANCEL. If error code returns after 60 seconds, replace keypad (also called touch pad or membrane switch). Some models incorporate keypad in to control board as one unit. In this case, replace control board (also called ERC or clock).

Get no power with intel d875pbz in rosewill tu155 case

You don't have the power switch connected where it belongs. There's one set of pins where all the front panel connections go. This information is from the manual for this board, available from Intel here.

Hope it helps. Thanks for using Fixya!

How do I open a fender passport 150 speaker cabinet?

There are screws running down the sides of the front panel which you will have to remove. The circuit board is secured to the front panel by the nuts, washers etc. that the controls and jacks are fastened with. Once you get the panel; loose gently move it forward so you can see any connections to the circuit board. Make careful note of all of these and draw diagrams. You will have to completely remove the panel from the enclosure and then the circuit board from the panel. The jack in question will be mounted on the circuit board and soldered to it on the reverse side. You will need to unsolder it, obtain an exact replacement, solder in the replacement and replace the board on the panel and the panel back in the enclosure. Make sure everything is connected exactly the way it was originally. Hope this helps.

My maytag dishwasher appears dead just after 1 year

You probably have a bad main control or console control unit in there. Turn power off to the machine, be sure that BOTH of your door switches are ok. Unplug your membrane to control panel ribbon cable, then put everything back in place. Leave the door open, then turn power back on to machine. (also, be sure the thermal fuse hasnt tripped while your in the console). After re-appling power, close the door, and wait a few, if the console unit is bad, the machine will go into drain mode (you will here the unit start in drain). If no drain mode, then your control is shorted. You dont have to see any burn marks, etc for one to be bad, in fact, 98% of the boards we replace, dont show any signs of problems. Let me know what you find out.

Poweredge 1650 pinouts

Hi there, i'm assuming that you have a bare bons system without a case whichis why you are asking the question.

The power switch and status LEDs are mounted on a control board that sits to the left of the drive bay at the front of the machine and connects to the mai board via a flexible circuit board/ribbon cable.

You might get more indication of where this connects from the service documentation which you can find here :-

http://support.us.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/pe1650/en/sm/index.htm

Hope that's of some help.
