Question about Acer Computers & Internet
Some web cams have a lower resolution than some software likes to play with. Equally, some cameras have too much resolution for the given software.
Having gone through Your model's check list, there shouldn't be any reason that it doesn't work.
Skype reports that you have Service Pack 3 installed for Windows XP as this apparently has updated driver/software to resolve the issue.
If you are running a more resent version of Windows (Vista [yuck] or 7) then this issue should have been addressed and implemented into the operating system long ago.
If you are running Linux, then there is a possibility that you have run into a typical issue with drivers. As most Linux OS' are 'fan based' and written by folks giving back to the system, there is the simple likelihood that a driver hasn't/won't be made for your web cam (at least the driver that would work with Skype).
The simpler move, at the moment, would be to visit Acer's home site, and step through their model discovery process to get to your laptop.
This should get you close. Download the driver for your input devices/usb devices (usually has the web cam included) and load her up. There may be a reboot involved, if there is just follow the directions and hopefully Viola, your camera will be up and running and Skype will atop squawking at you.
Hope this helps...
