Hi,

Most bikes (and gasoline feed engines for that matter) would require two crucial elements to start/run: 1) fuel and 2) ignition. A hard starting engine then could be caused by:
1. fuel starvation - there is no fuel in the carbs (or high pressure fuel pump for injected). This could be brought about by the fuel tank's valve which will only allow fuel to flow through if there is a vacuum, the engine is already running. In some models, there is a setting on the fuel valve ON, RES and PRI. On is just that one but requires the vacuum from the intake manifold, RES is for reserve, same as ON except that it the inlet sits lower inside the tank but also requires vacuum. PRI is ON and will allow fuel to flow even without vacuum. Before starting the bike, moved the fuel valve control to PRI if the Yamaha has one. Additional on cold start, putting on CHOKE to about 3/4 up would also enrich the fuel/air mixture making an easier start.

2. Ignition - At every engine start, the battery supplies power to the starter motor and to the ignition system. In some instances when the battery is going weak, the starter motor will gobble up most if not all of the power output of the battery leaving nothing for the ignition system to use. This is especially evident if the bike was used at night with the lights open and the bike did not have a chance to re-charge its battery before switched off. Starting on the next morning would be on a bike with its battery partially depleted. In some instances, the charging system may be at fault if and when it fails to deliver sufficient charging to the battery. Often causes are corroded or loose connection or even a a partially defective voltage regulator.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I have and older unit a pioneer VSX 3800, how do you program the radio channels, is there a manuel for these unit i can get sent to myself

Hi.

You have a digital display pioneer receiver and you would like to know how to store radio stations.
  • first tune your radio to your selected radio station
  • next see if the receiver has a button marked memory, and it should have buttons marked 1 2 3 4 5 6 etc
  • After you have tuned in to your selected radio station, if it has a button marked memory,
  • Press the memory button, then press and hold 1 for a few seconds and that should store your selected radio station to preset 1
  • Next, tune in to another radio station and store it by pressing memory then 2 and that should store it in location 2.

  • If your Receiver doesn't have a button labelled memory, and simply has the store 1-6 etc buttons then ,
  • Tune in to your radio station , then press and hold 1 for a few seconds, it will probably flash a few times until its stored in that location 1

  • Next, tune in to another radio station, then press and hold 2 and that should store it in location 2.
  • repeat.

I hope this helps you.

Have a great day

My satellite receiver cant find free channels

do a download on the reciever, pull the power leed out from the back, put your finger on the backup button on the box and put the power leed back in but always keep your finger on the backup button sometimes a bit tricky, leave your finger on the button for about 20 seconds till you see 4 lights light up on the front of the box or untill it says on the screen updating system software, take your finger of the button and leave the box for 10 mins.the lights will off then after that then give it another min to reboot its self then try it again.hope that works for you

Have lost four preset channels on my Technika DAB 109CR digital clock radio and lost manual so have nothing to consult to get back these stations. Everything live but showing only one station constantly

Finally sussed out how to (re)set presets, overall you need a little patience:
Probably best to press Autotune before we set off and let it do its thing.
Press 'presets' and find a free channel or the one you want to change, leave it until you can hear the station its on play.
Now, press 'jog/select' and WAIT until it says <SELECT> (but don't wait too long when it says this or you'll have to start again)
Use dial to find station you want AND LEAVE to tune in.
Press AND hold presets down until number flashes.
Press jog/select once briefly (normally).
Press presets once briefly...it should now say "Saved"
Leave to save for a few seconds.
Voila!
You can now change station either by pressing Presets and moving dial...waiting for the station to load OR press jog/select to manually tune to the station of your choice using the dial.

I have a aaa duracell battery charger (2 batteries) and want to know should i leave the batteries in my microphone until they need charging or should i leave them in the charger until i want to use the...

Only charge rechargeable batteries when they are depleted of power. Once they are restored, it is okay to leave the batteries in the device but recommend removing when not in use to avoid contacts getting moisture in between causing corrosion, also the battery will leak some minimal power when installed/connected in the device.

I have a Harman Kardon 435 receiver hooked up for 5 channel surround sound. Receiver will start out fine playing off dvd, but then will inevitably "lock up" and I can't do anything including change source,...

I would perform a firmware update, but that does not sound like a problem that is easily fixed if the reset procedure does no fix things.

I'l ask HK next time i talk to them, I have never had this happen on a 435 yet.

No sound from unit, sometimes you get sound and other times nothing. When you do get sound everything works fine. Everything is hooked up properly, shut the unit off one day then turned it on next day and...

well there may be a simple solution, it could quite possibly be a fuse... if you open it up, after the power converter box and before it hits electronics, ther should be a fuse, this may be burnt out... but check inside before you go to buy a bunch of fuses as there are normally a couple spares inside, and if not, its easier to find the right replacement with the burnt out one in your hand!

RX-V800 Shutdown on Function Change

If you can get it to turn on, you can check the problem by holding down the A/B/C/D/E and Right Preset buttons (on the amp not the remote) while turning it on (pressing Standby). This enters diagnostic mode and displays a message. If it says NO PROTECT then the protection circuits have not been triggered (see below).

If it won't turn on at all, try unplugging it and leaving it for a few days to let all the capacitors discharge. You often only get "one hit", so turn iton in diagnostic mode first.

If the dignostic message says "DC PRT nnnn" then one or more amplifier output stages have DC voltage and you will need to identify which one(s) and replace the blown output transistors and any other affected components. They aren't all that expensive, but dismantling this model is a bit of a struggle! However, if it turns on and stays on until you press a button, then the amp output stages may well be OK.

In which case, it is more likely that the microprocessor is detecting a voltage or current anomaly (PS PRT :nnnn or I PROTECT).

I had the same problem and, after replacing all components on the three main power boards, the problem went away until I reassembled it all, then it suddenly started again.

I now think this is possibly a grounding problem. Many of the boards are grounded via the chassis, and after some years use a grounding /chassis screw may get loose or oxidised causing the problem.

I dismantled the amp and soldered a length of hookup wire from a grounding point on each board to a grounding point on the next, so that all of the main boards' grounds are directly connected back to the power supplies grounds. I didn't worry about the front panel boards.

Also replace the 0.047F 5.5V memory backup button capacitor near the top of the input / microporocessor main board (second board from right) as this is prone to leakage, and check / clean any leaked electrolyte from this board. Icouldn't get a 0.047F capacitor so I used a 0.1F 5.5V one.

So far (touch wood) this has worked and I am running the amp as my main receiver for a while to make sure it's fixed the problem.

Hope this helps someone.

Serafis.
