Question about Dewalt Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I have a Dewalt radio (Dw911) that will only play off the battery, not the power cord. I have checked both fuses and found both to be good. It sounds as if this is a common issue but I have found no solution.

Mine had the same problem .Try swapping the fuses. Although the fuse looked good mine was bad. Easy fix I hope. Going to auto parts store for new ones.

How do you actually take it apart?
Read somewhere that there is 18 screws on front 2 on back.
Can someone point them out to me.
    Thanks

    Hello
There are 8 screws around the outer part of the radio. Remove them and tap on the sides . It takes a little persuading but it eventually pops apart .Be careful as the speaker wires hold the 2 pieces together. Good luck .

May be the 1 amp fuse on the power board, BUT a failed transformer is at least as likely. Determine this by measuring the AC voltage on the two yellow wires going to the power board. Reports from measuring the secondary output of transformers in working units suggest 14 volt AC output. Something rated for an amp would probably be good (consider the size of the fuse)

Dc011 radio works with battery but wont work when plugged in what could it be

Sounds like the mains transformer has gone. That is what reduces the mains outlet power of 110 volt to that of the batteries.

You could check the power cord though for 110 volts at the end.

Dewalt radio dw911 will play on mains but nothing with battery only

If you pull of the back cover you will find two small fuses near power supply, one of these allows power from battery pack, check with voltmeter for open circuit, I take it that it is not just one battery it does this with.

My dewalt dw911 radio/charger works on either mains or battery but wont charge a battery and blows an internal fuse when both are used together

More than likely your internal charger is faulty. Inside your inernal charger unit check the 2 anmp fuse which is white in colour.

Dewalt dw911 radio

I had the same problem with the case not coming apart after I took the screws off, but thanks to someone posting a suggestion on this website, I was able to take it apart and take care of the problem. Use a soft mallet and use it around the seam of the radio until it pops loose.

By the way, my original problem with the radio was that it would not get any power at all, whether using the power cord, or an 18v battery. I was able to fix the problem by replacing the fuse located inside the case (250v / 1AMP)......works great now!! Many thanks to all of you who posted suggestions on this great website!!
