SOURCE: Maytag Gemini oven glass door panels impossible to clean

We had an ugly spill of hot grease/water from a roast, and lots of it ran right into the vent holes on our oven door, covering various layers of glass and other parts inside the door. Yuck. Thankfully we found this site!

"fixetheoven" was certainly on the right track, but missed a key step that makes this job much, much easier. (Maybe they had a few too many sips of wine during the process?! :-)

Anyway, the key to make the job easy, and do-able by one person, is to pull the door off the hinges before starting to remove any screws! Here's how we did it:

1. Open the door about four inches or so, it will stay in place. Hold the door at the sides and lift it up, sliding it right off of the hinges! Now lay it carefully face up on a table so you have easy access to the screws, and no danger of the glass dropping out of the bottom of the door (as apparently happened to "fixedtheoven".)
2. Remove the two screws that hold the panel on one side of the door. (One screw is halfway up the side panel, the other is on the bottom edge of the door.)
3. Slide the panel off, paying close attention to how it fits into place so you can return it to its original position later!
4. Remove the two screws that hold the panel on the other side of the door, and slide that panel out as well.
5. Remove the three screws that hold the panel across the bottom edge of the door, and remove that panel.
6. Now you can slide the front glass out from under the top edge of the door.
7. Clean the front glass, the side panels, and the bottom panel, as needed.
8. There will be another layer of glass inside the door. If it needs cleaning on the underside, remove the screws from one of the metal brackets that hold the glass in place. You can then slide this piece of glass out from the metal bracket at the other side.
9. After cleaning everything, reassemble the door by reversing the above steps.
10. Lift the door by the sides and carefully slide it back into place on the hinges. Be sure it is properly in place and being held there before you let go!!
11. Now go pour that glass of wine and sip to your heart's content, while admiring how clean your oven door is!

SOURCE: oven door won't unlock

I fixed the automatic oven door lock on my oven. While the door was open, I pushed the button on the upper left hand side a couple of times (the one that senses when the door is closed.) Then I was going to call the repairman when the door closed! I had to run the self clean cycle again to get the lock light to go off, but it worked!

The procedure to Disassembling the door is as follows:-- 1. Set the oven door wide open. 2. Lift the hinge jumpers with your thumb and index fingers, then turn them fully outwards to the end of stroke. 3. Turn the door towards the closure position and lay it on the jumpers: in this way the hinge's spring is blocked. By fully closing the door the hinges are unhooked from the connection slits which are integral with the oven muffle. 4) Re-assemble the door by carrying-out the aforesaid operations in the opposite order. Disassembling of the door glasses:-- for your safety, before removing the glasses you should remove the oven door. To facilitate the cleaning, after having removed the door from the oven, you can proceed with the disassembly of the glass. Release the two upper blocks so that the glass can be removed. After the cleaning you should reassemble the glass, replace the blocks and lock into position. Check that all components have been assembled correctly and than you can re-assemble the door onto the oven. check fig:-- For more help click this link directly. The F9 code indicates there is a problem with the door lock.

Try disconnecting the power to the range for 10 seconds and reconnecting. Open the oven door and hold the door switch plunger in while you try these things. Put the control into clean for 5 minutes then cancel clean. You must hold the door switch plunger in for the 5 minutes.

Try canceling the clean cycle without putting the control into clean.

My self-cleaning oven door will not latch. Displays error code dr

HI, This code will appear when there are serious issue that concern the integrity of the door latch mechanism. The control is unable to carry out the lock command, due to this mechanism failing, in this case. This damaged door latch assembly should be replaced asap. Once placed, the unit will preform correctly.

NOTE_ There is a possibility, that the door latch wires are loose. I would gain access to the door latch assembly, if possible, to inspect the wring that is linking the control to the actual door latch. Make sure the wiring harness is connected properly, and that the contacts are not damaged. If all is well, replace the door latch assembly
