Lack of air to burn will cause this . air mix on burner needs adjusting . crack or leak on burner would upset flame . burner could need cleaning .

I have an indesit cooker both gas and electric and when am using gas it produces poor quality fire which causes soot onto saucepans. please help

Soot is unburned carbon in the gas and is caused by the flame being short of oxygen. The burner assembly may be dirty or your air adjustment is off. Once a burner starts to make soot, it gets progressively worse on till it is repaired. The first thing to try is a good cleaning. If that does not solve it, look for the air adjusters. They should be near where the supply gas line meets the burner orifice. open them a little at a time and watch the flame for change. More air should clean up the cabon. Also check the gas pressure regulator for proper adjustment. It could be set too high. Let me know how your doing, OK? Roger

My flame has a lot of yellow in it instead of pure blue

The air intake on each burner needs adjusting, as you have an improper ratio of gas to air. The burner flames should have blue base with yellow tips.

My patio mushroom heater lights up ok but keeps going out by itself after about 5 to 10 minutes and then can be started again inatantainiously by starting pilot light and away you go until it goes out...

Hello,
Here's a few things to check. When you light the pilot, is it a strong blue pilot flame, a weak blue flame or a lazy yellow flame? Is it heating the thermocouple enough to make it red hot after a few minutes? If the pilot is small blue or lazy yellow flame, it may be dirty and need cleaned. When the burner lights, the weak pilot flame may diminish causing the thermocouple to cool off enough to shut down the main burner. Clean the dirty pilot orifice by using a can of compressed air with attached straw. (The same canned air you use to clean computer keyboards) Blow it into the pilot assembly where the pilot flame burns out from and blow thru the air holes on the side, if applicable. You might also check the thermocouple itself to make sure the tip is not partially burn't off. It should be a smooth, rounded tip. Replace the thermocouple if cleaning the pilot orifice doesn't solve the problem. Douglas

WHEN I SHUT OFF MY BURNERS AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ON FOR A WHILE, THEY POP.I WOULD LIKE TO STOP THAT IF POSSIBLE. WE USE PROPANE.

EXTINCTION POP
(1) Recognition of Extinction Pop. Sometimes a small explosion of gas in the burner head occurs when the burner is shut off. Under these conditions flashback on extinction has taken place. This problem is commonly called "extinction pop." Extinction pop, as the name implies, creates a noise or a "bang." Ordinarily, it is not followed by burning in the burner head or mixing tube, since the gas supply is turned off. The pop occurs at the time the gas supply to the burner is shut off. Sometimes it may be delayed for a few seconds.
(2) Results of Extinction Pop. Ordinarily, extinction pop is not unsafe or hazardous, and will not damage the appliance. It may result in a customer complaint because of the noise created. However, the resultant concussion may blow out the pilot flame. If an automatic pilot safety device is used, it will act to shut off the gas supply to the appliance.
(3) Correction of Extinction Pop. It may be possible to eliminate extinction pop by reducing primary air supplied to the burner. Make sure this air adjustment does not cause yellow-tipping during normal burner operation. Check proper gas pressure and proper gas orifice size. If these actions fail to correct the problem, burner change may be required.

King kooker will not burn a blue flame, only a big yellow sooty

You may need to resize the orifice, sounds to me like it is too big. If you have an adjustable orifice try tightening it down a quarter turn at a time till that flame turn pretty. Leave that shutter wide open till you start getting a blue flame. Make sure you have no cob webs blocking the orifice.Blow out and remove all rust from the burner.
