First thing I would try is to go to this site and download PC Inspector

http://www.pcinspector.de/Sites/file_recovery/download.htm?language=1

This is a piece of freeware software that can be used. It will inspect the drive and if possible, you will be able to see the data on the drive and then copy it to another hard drive, ie the one on your laptop.

Let me know if this works. If not there are other packages available but most of the rest you may need to pay for. PC Inspector is a good starting point.

Some vendors have recovery partition software installed from the factory you can uninstall and it increases the HD automatically. (you will lose your recovery partition though) the other option is a software like Acronis that will repartition your drive on the fly. Careful though, this can be detrimental. FAT files can be sensitive. Also ensure your OS can handle the size you want to go to, or you will have failures there also, like it won't even see the partition!

My usb a dane elect 4gb says that a need to format, but 30 min earlier is was working fine, why? and how can I recuperate my date

Don't be panic. you can try some data recovery software. You can see
http://www.asoftech.com/articles/recover-deleted-files-after-format.html
It tells the steps how to perform data recovery.

If above does not work, you may have to format the usb drive (use quick format), and then use above mentioned software to scan again the usb drive and recover your files.

SMART Failure predicted on Hard Disk 2: SAMSUNG HM250HI -(S1) WARNING: Immediately back-up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent. Press F1 to Continue. Then when I do...

Remove the hard drive and put it into an enclosure. Plug it into another computer as a slave. Then you can copy your files on it.
If it shows up in 'my computer' as a drive letter(like E: drive) but you can't access it, you can recover data from hard drive with data recovery program. This data recovery is a professional data recovery program that can recover data after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data due to drives crash, physical damage, system sabotage, virus attack etc. You can get the data recovery software from:
http://www.asoftech.com/adr/
After you recover your data, you can format it to check out whether it can be fixed.

Cant restore acer netbook back to facotry settings did not do backup when purchased

Recovery procedure for Acer netbooks.

Important Information

The Recovery disc will help you to restore the hard drive with the original software content that was installed when you purchased your notebook. Follow the steps below to rebuild your hard drive. Your drive will be reformatted and all data will be erased. It is important to back up all data files before you use this option.

Restoration procedure:

1. Press the power button to turn the system on.

2. Select to boot from a USB optical drive. There are two ways to do this:

2.1. Press <F2> during the Power-On Self-Test (when the Acer logo is displayed onscreen after bootup) to enter BIOS Setup.

2.1.1. Select the Boot menu.

2.1.2. Refer to onscreen instructions to set the first device to any bootable optical disc drive.

2.2. Press <F12> during the Power-On Self-Test (when the Acer logo is displayed onscreen after bootup), and select the USB ODD from the list that appears.

3. Ensure the Recovery disc is in an external (USB) optical disc drive, and exit the boot selection menu, by selecting Exit Saving Changes from the Exit menu or pressing <F10>, or by pressing <Enter> as appropriate.

4. Select Exit Saving Changes from the Exit menu or press <F10>.

5. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation process.

6. When you finish the recovery process, please remove the Recovery disc and insert the System disc again.

7. Restart your computer.

Create a Recovery USB device

You will need a second computer with an ODD to complete this procedure.

1) Insert the Recovery CD into the optical drive. Plug in a USB/flash drive with a minimum capacity of 1 GB.

2) Enter the BIOS setup and set the first boot device to the ODD. Save the changes and exit.

3) Allow your computer to boot up.

4) From the list of options, select "install2usb".

5) You will see a list of available disks, select the USB drive you plugged in.

6) Click the next button to complete the procedure.

7) Remove the USB ODD and USB/flash drive. You now have the Recovery system stored in your USB/flash drive, for future use if necessary.

I have a hp pavilion dv 1659 us (dv 1000) the sata drive goes bad

It will recognize the new drive if you were able to "migrate" your data from the old drive. If not, you can clean install by booting from an optical drive (changing your boot order at start-up) and using a new OS disk or your recovery disks. You might be able to perform a remote partition & format and install from one drive to the other with USB external enclosures for each drive and another computer (depending on the 100G drive's condition). I hope this helps.

Need to replace hdd but cant copy old one

The Drives Reader arm Is Either Stuck Or Knocked Off Track And Can' Pass Over The Platters... The Hard Drive Will Need To Be Opened Up And Inspected/Repaired Before Data Can Be Retrieved..
You would hear a ticking or knocking sound if the arm is not working right.. If It Sounds Like its Running Properly You Might Have Erased Data by Scratching The Platters, You Can Try Using A Software Named.. Recover My Files..... And Do A Low Level Search, If THere's any life in the drive, This Program will find the data.....

T30 2366 not recovering from original recovery disk

The 2 gig partition is probably your recovery partition that allows you to restore your computer from the hard drive instead of the Operating System discs that came with the unit. You don't really want to mess with your partitions (you may accidently delete all your data). I'd recommend using Acronis True Image and backing your data to an external hard drive first, you can copy individual folders or the entire hard drive. Then you can just destructive restore your entire hard drive back to factory settings.
