Question about Fisher and Paykel GWL11 Top Load Washer

1 Answer

My F & P top loader machine drips from the water inlet even when the taps are turned off. This is not a huge problem but it's irritating as I can't leave a load in the machine when the spin finishes or it all gets wet again. It drips about 10 litres a day with the taps on and 1/2 litre per day with the taps turned off.

Thanks, I have changed the tap washers so it must be the water valves. If this is something I could fix, then I would appreciate directions. Cheers!

Hi just read your posting. The 2 faults with this problem is faulty tap washers and faulty water valves. To stop the water coming into the machine then you must either replace the washer in the tap or replace the water valve.I can help you replace the water valve if you decide to replace it.Please reply on how you would like to proceed.Looking forward to your reply.

Hi just read your last posting. Now 1st thing is to find out which water valve is faulty. So turn the hot tap off and leave the cold on and then see if the water comes into the machine.Repeat with the hot tap .If the water comes in with the cold tap off then it is the cold valve that is faulty and if the water comes in with the hot tap on then it is the hot valve which is faulty. Also could you confirm your machines model number for me.It is located on a sticker on the back of the machine , top left. Please reply on which valve is faulty and the model number. Then I can guide you in the replacement of the correct valve.Looking forward to your reply.

Hi made a mistake in my last posting, sorry. If the water comes in with the cold tap ON then it is the cold valve that is faulty.Sorry for that mistake I will read what I write next time before posting.Hear from you soon.

Model is MW 511 and it's definitely the cold tap.

Hi just got your posting. Now remove the 2 screws up top at the back of the machine which is holding the top panel and then gently lift the top panel up and rest it on the lid of your machine.Make sure to turn the power off at the wall 1st.Now you will see a brown control module and to the left you will see the water valves. Are your water valves blue in color that are joined or are they clear and separate valves?I am on line now so I can help you straight away if you reply back.Looking forward to your reply.

Hi, sorry it took so long, I had to borrow philips head screwdrivers from my neighbour! The 2 things I imagine are the water valves are both white cylinders and sitting in a clear plastic tank which appears to connect them both.

Hi just got the last posting. Now the water valve that has the hose from the cold tap attached to it is the cold valve. This is the one you have to change. Now what country are you in as you need to purchase a cold water valve for this model before you remove the old one as it will be easier if you have one on hand so you can put it back together easily. If you are in Australia I can advise you in where to buy the part.Or if you are not in Australia then contact your local FISHER@PAYKEL parts distributor and give them the exact model number and then but the water valve and I will guide you step by step in the replacement of it.Please reply if you need places and phone numbers or when you have the replacement part or for further advice.Looking forward to your reply.

My fisher and paykel GWL15 is dripping water from the top where the water comes from. What is the name of the part that needs to be replaced?

Sounds much like the rubber diaphragm in the water inlet valve is split, which means that as long as the water tap is on you will get that drip drip drip of water into the machine.
You can still use the machine until you fix the problem, but the most obvious short term thing to do is to turn the water taps off when the machine is not in use.
To determine which machine inlet valve is leaking, turn on both taps, then turn off, first the HOT water tap as this is more often than not the least used. If the leaking persists, then it is the Cold Water Inlet Valve you need to replace on your machine.
While this repair can be done by a suitably skilled handyman, I always urge caution, because the average guy may just not have as well instilled "Safety Consciousness" as the professional technician who does this sort of thing all the time.
Remember, you are dealing with 240v A.C. which can deliver a LETHAL unplug the power cord when doing any work as the least of safety steps to take. It only takes one forgetful mistake which could result in injury or worse!

I only have a hose attached to the cold water tap and inlet valve of my Fischer & Paykel top loader washing machine as I only do cold washes, this hadn't been a problem until recently, when th

it could be that the water level got to high and came out of the valve you could try putting a cap on the valve and see if that works and if it does not then it might be a bigger issue.

The cold water inlet is slow to fill machine but the hot water inlet works fine

Hi just read your posting.Could you please supply the model of your hoover and tell me if it is a front or top loader. The fault on your machine is due to a faulty cold water valve or dirty inlet filter.Turn the cold tap off and remove the cold water hose from the tap end and check to see if the little filter at the end of the hose is blocked. If it is, clean it and put back the hose to the tap and try a wash cycle. Please reply with additional information and to tell me how you got on with the filter.

Slow drip near back of lid

Hi there.this may be water dripping from the injector tube where the water actually enters the bowl.It is normal to drip for a short while after the machine has just been used but if it is a constant drip then you probably have a faulty inlet valve.Try this, turn off one of the taps & see if dripping stops.if not, turn off tha other tap & see if it stops.this will tell you which of the valves are leaking. You could just turn the taps off after use, that would save having to replace it.Hope that helped you.if not then give more detail if possible please.cheers!

Your water inlet valve is probably leaking by. If the water pressure is too, or if there is sediment build inside the valve, sometimes the solenoids will not close properly. Try cleaning the valve to see if this helps. If not, I would recommend replacing it. Depending on which valve you have, has two listed for this model washer for $20 to $30. Let me know if this helps, or if you need further assistance.
