Question about Dell Inspiron 1000 Notebook
Just bought the laptop from a friend of mine. werks great other than it gets really hot after 20 minutes of runtime and the cd/dvd rom wont rad disks...thought of and external rom and compresed air...what do you think?
I assume the optical reader moves up and down the channel beginning at the gear spindle. I think that what ever movers the optical reader on my qsi cdre/dvdsbw 241in my notebook is broken. Any mickey mouse fix or more professionally, any ideas Actually I have a hp pavilion ze4500. I guess it is so old itis not listed in the drop downmenu
Heilsa! I tp have a Dell inspiron 1000 running windows XP that has the QSI CDRW/DVD SBW242C and it is not reading any DVD's and only reading CD's sporadically! Need help in this area! Would appreciate it greatly if anyone could help us out here. Even just point us to correct legit drivers for this thing so we could check to see if that is what the problem is. Thank you very much!
The system you have is an old system and DELL doesn't manufacture it any more.
the thing is that INSPIRON 1000 is a system in which you cannot take out anything as its bit complicated.
as its turning hot wot you can do is use a air compressed can and try cleaning areas near vents
if it doesn't fixes the problem try logging on to
punchin your system's service tag
you will get list of drivers you have to download and install BIOS from that list
when you run that BIOS update make sure that the battery is in and ac adapter is plugged in
and still if it doesn't fix the problem get the system board, fan and heatsink assembly replaced and offcourse cd drive too.
if you need to get pricing info regarding repairs you can call 1-800-624-9896(United States Toll Free number for Dell Technical support)

Have a TwinHead Efio E 12 B I handed down to my son though its been awhile since I used the CD Rom player but hardly ever used it only a couple of times when I load a software or play a DVD. The dics icon on the lap top indicator usually lights up green when it is running though not now. Tried playing both CD or DVD and windows media player but keep on getting the display to insert the disc inspite of it being in the tray. I have a feeling my son may have removed a software to run this CD Rom. What can I do to get it operating again. I have the Power DVD Cyberlink installation disc but since the CD Rom cannot detect anything I can not reinstall this again.

Tips for a great answer:
Error Code 19 Your registry may be bad
I would run a registry cleaner. There are lots to choose from and some of them work like Norton Utilities and PC Tools.
