If your Ricoh Aficio MP C2800 is showing "toner undetectable" messages for all four toner cartridges and the yellow and cyan colors are not showing up in copies, there may be several potential causes for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the problem:
Check Toner Cartridges: Ensure that all four toner cartridges are correctly installed and securely seated in their respective slots. Make sure there are no protective seals or tapes left on the cartridges.
Shake Toner Cartridges: Sometimes, toner inside the cartridges can settle or clump, leading to detection issues. Gently shake each toner cartridge side to side to redistribute the toner evenly.
Replace Toner Cartridges: If the toner cartridges are old, empty, or expired, replace them with new, genuine Ricoh toner cartridges.
Clean Contacts: Dust or debris on the toner cartridge contacts can interfere with communication. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the electrical contacts on both the toner cartridges and inside the printer.
Check Developer Unit: The developer unit in the printer plays a crucial role in toner development and transfer. Ensure that the developer unit is clean and free from any obstructions.
Perform a Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your Ricoh MP C2800 printer. Updating the firmware might address known issues and improve printer performance.
Reset the Printer: Power off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in. Power the printer on to see if the issue resolves.
Check Toner Detection Sensors: The printer uses sensors to detect the presence of toner cartridges. Verify that these sensors are functioning correctly and not blocked by any debris.
Perform a Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can try performing a factory reset on the printer. However, be aware that this will reset all settings to their defaults, and any custom configurations will be lost
I assume the problem is the black cartridge is not releasing. If so you should slide a thin strip of plastic along the top of the black cartridge to trigger the release clip.

This is caused by the toner cartridges. The manufacturer change an internal component to save a few coppers and this is the result. Usually only happens when the toner cartridge is old and the 'foam roller' in the toner cartridge starts to get a bit 'sticky' - as happens with some types of foam when it ages.
Two cures for the problem
1. Change the cartridge - make sure it is 'fresh'
2 Find an old cartridge with the old type of foam roller (plain full width) and swap this and its support into the cartridge to replace the new (spiral foam) roller
"New" refilled cartdiges? Or new from the manufacturer? Some printers have chips in the cartridges that "know" when they ran out of ink, and they have to be reset. If the refiller didn't reset the chip, it still "thinks" that the cartridge is empty.
If they're new cartridges, bought from the same place at the same time, I'd suspect bad cartridges.
have you used the printer properties menu to recharge the ink? Just right click on the printer icon, choose properties, click on the Maintenance tab and click on the ink cartridge replacement. You have already replaced the cartridge so just click through to the end. The last thing it does is recharge it. I think this must be where it decides it has been replaced and is full.
