Use video head cleaning cassette to clean camera's video heads. I also suggest you not to use this dirty cassette any more because it will clogge again camera video heads.

How many times did you clean the head? and what with? often you can irrepairably damage the head on these machines by overcleaning. How much difference did the head cleaning make? What was "bad" about the bad tape? was it old/got wet/left in sun/etc....? Are you sure none of the missing screws are still in the machine? Are you getting the same results if you play back using a different camera/player or have you only tried your camera? Are there any unusual noises when the camera is recording or playing back? - listen really really carefully, in case there is a motor or gearing problem. Waiting for your info :)

Tape Wont Play

My advice is that you should by a cleaning cassette. Put this in the camera and run it for 10 to 20 seconds only. running the cleaning cassette for a long time may damage the head.
good luck!

Dear Lauren,
You didnt write camera model and make. any how, you need Head Cleaning Cassette for your camera to clean its video heads. Video heads are dirty/ clogged so camera doesnt show picture in playback. Incompatible Tape

try a cleaning tape first - best not to rewind the cleaning tape because it will put back the crud previously removed ? into your heads and guides ( last tape to play is prime suspect ) ; - - digital heads wear faster than analog so a new set of heads is next possibility but if the cleaning tape works . . . retire your library soon as possible .

Tapes won't play

This is an indication that both data heads are dirty. In a digital camcorder both heads need to be operating correctly to obtain a full picture. Insert a new cleaning tape and run it for only 10 seconds or less, this should clear up the problem. Avoid using the tape that caused the problem. Do not use the cleaning tape for regular maintenance, this will damage the drum surface. Good luck to you! Joe Weibel Custom Electronics (customelectronics.org)
