Install .msi files for plain user account

Many corporate environments are locked down, all users do not have rights to install applications by themselves. This helps reduce virus infections and spreading. <br /><br />But as IT staff, we need to help these users install applications that will help them do their job. Many new applications are in .msi format which means you can not hold shift and right click on the .msi file to Runas Administrator or elevated privileges.<br /><br />This tip requires you to know some basic MS-DOS command line syntax. But first you need to start a command prompt with the elevated rights.<br /><br /> Step 1, Open command prompt Step 2, Type: Runas /user:administrator "cmd" (enter administrator password) Step 3, change directory to location of .msi install file (simple DOS commands) Step 4, Run .msi file via command line, this will start theinstall via local administrator account. Complete installation Step 5, close admin command prompt screen.

Hi this problem is apparent with many older applications-drivers and programs that are written for older mac operating systems. There are numerous ways to try and solve these problems including installing emulators to run the software. Here is is a link to an official Apple mac support page that specifically deals with printer and scanner drivers. There is too much detail for me to explain in an email so i hope this link will help you with what you need to know.
Best of luck

Hi, I'm receiving this message when I try to install Numbers undercover on our Mac... You can't open the application Numbers Undercover Installer because the Classic environment is no longer supported.

You must be running OS X as opposed to OS 9. Unfortunately later version of OS X do not support classic applications. According to the Sunburst website they do not support OS X which is strange as OS 9 was discontinued in Macs probably for the last 7 years. Sorry.

Backyard 2001 wont work for my mac it keeps saying the classic environment is no longer supported. can i get it to work?

In short, no. Apple has completely dropped support for the classic environment. It's a simple case of out with the old and in with the new.
So another words any applications that requires the classic environment will not work anymore, within the new operating system.

The game is for OS 9 as opposed to Mac OS X. If this game has been sold as a game for OS X your only option is to contact the company that sold it to you and return it and ask for the OS X version. Hope this helps.

Will not install with window 7. pls write how

If I am correct this game looks old, and if it is it probably isn't compatible with windows 7. Windows 7 is supposed to have a lot of backwards compatibility but it doesn't work so well just yet. Wait a bit and maybe microsoft will patch the OS to fix the compatibility problems, then you will be able to play your game.

Unable to install the Print Shop for Mac

Hi Penny Ray,

Print Shop Installer is part of the old OS9 operating system. "Classic Environment" was a form of OS-9-Lite that ran on-top of earlier versions of OS-X. It is not supported in Intel-based Macs, (and doesn't appear to be supported in OS 10.5, which is the current version).

What model Mac laptop and version of OS are you running? And more specifically, can you provide more detail about what are you hoping to print?

Please let me know when you can - thanks in-advance.
