Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

I have an old Averatec ad135-ec1 all in one desktop pc. When I press the power button, I get power to the hard drive but not to the fans, the processors, dvdrw or the display. The fans work when applied with an alternate power source. The board has no part# ?board number and the serial number appears to have been hand written. Any educated guesses? Prints would be nice or even a board number. hope you can help.

SOURCE: ASUS KBN-E MOTHER BOARD 754 processor 512mb ram

Try plugging the drives into another computer to see if they actually work, ie read discs etc if they do then try swapping the power supply out of your computer.. if this doesn't work then I would say your motherboard is dead. Good luck

Hi, My averatec is vibrating making weird noises, what causes this?

The only actual components with moving parts are the hard drive and fan(s). Take the side cover off the case and i am sure you will be able to tell which it is. A new cpu/fan heatsink is usually under $20 but a new hard drive could cost you a bit more.

Compu is averatec d1002uhce-1 2 month new .... i

sounds like either you have a disk in the cd drive and it won't boot because of it or you have some other device that it is looking to boot from instead of the hard drive.... if not, then you have a bad hard drive. I would first unplug all accessories and eject any discs... Next go into the bios (if your comfortable with it) and make sure the hard drive is in the boot priority... if nothing, then take the cover off and disconnect and reconnect your hard drive. If that doesn't work then you probably have a faulty drive.

Gateway MT6451 Does not turn on

Probably the mainboard or flaky power supply.

I'd start by replacing the power supply. Buy one you can use in a new machine, though... or "borrow" one from another machine.

CD doesn't get out of the DVD/CD driver

Does your operating system recognize the cd? You can check by attempting to browse the contents of the drive. If you can view the contents of the cd then try restarting. If you can't look for a small pin hole in the front of the cd/dvd drive. This is a manual release mechanism. Take a paper clip unbend it and gently push into the hole until the drive releases. Be gentle but forceful if you will.
