After changing the resolution in Windows, press the AUTO button on the side of the monitor. This will optimize the monitor to match your resolution.

Make sure the monitor works on a friend's PC using the DVI... let's not go backward to VGA when DVI is available on both the PC and monitor. If the monitor works, install the driver and reboot. It should work for you too.

I have a web cam built-in to my gateway need to get it workin again any ideas how to istall it?

You can download drivers for the webcam at:
http://support.gateway.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?partNumber=1015608R

There are two different models of webcam for that particular model unfortunately, so you either need to try them until one works, or download the hardware detection tool at the top of the page.

If you just need the bundled software, click the application tab on that page and you can download that as well.

Please leave feedback if this was helpful. Thanks.

Display comes on, says "Digital," then goes black.

I'm not sure what's happening, but here are some questions to ask yourself:

-Are all the cables properly connected? Monitor to computer, monitor to wall?
-Is your graphics card properly inserted in your computer?
-Does the display work when plugged into a different computer?
-Is the computer plugged in and turned on?

There's a troubleshooting section in the user's manual, found here:

Monitor goes black, then after being off for a while, will comeback on for a few miutes

If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed GATEWAY and other monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

What is the most likely cause of the problem of a gateway HD1900 monitor fine works for 5 minutes when powered on then goes dark but imagine can be seen in background

The back lighting fails - the CCFL tubes lose their power most likely because of a bad contact.Open the case of the monitor and press all wires firmly in their connectors.

It sounds like it is in "sleep mode"
