Question about Philips SA1100 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Playlist Trouble I have a Philips GoGear SA1100 MP3 Player, and it isn't sorting my playlist in the way that I want it to. I know that this type of MP3 player sorts songs in alphabetical order, so to get around that I titled all of my songs like this: Song 1 - Title, Song 2 - Title, Song 3 - Title, etc. I assumed that it would play the songs in order by how they're numbered, but it still has them out of order! I then found out that since I ripped my songs from three different CD's, the MP3 player is playing the songs in the order they were originally on the CD's, even though I changed the track listings to correspond to the order I wanted to (so the song I wanted to play first on my MP3 player could be the fifth song on the CD, so the MP3 player plays it fifth instead of first, even though I changed it to be the first song!) Does anyone know how I can get my MP3 player to play the songs in the order that I want them to? I tried making all the songs have a track listing of zero, and erased the titles of the CD's that the songs came from.

Delete the track number from the ID3 tag to get around this problem. Make sure the GoGear is not set to shuffle - make sure the shuffle is OFF.

How to save playlist into go gear

This GoGear REQUIRES that you use Windows Media Player 10 - you must uninstall your Windows Media Player 11 and rollback to version 10.
Once you have done that, the instructions with pictures are in the manual which can be found at: http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/h/hdd6330_17/hdd6330_17_dfu_aen.pdf

Gogear 6330/17 - Creating/Adding Playlist

You MUST use Windows Media Player 10 - Windows Media Player 9 or 11 will not transfer the playlist correctly.  Once you have version 10 installed, then the instructions in the HDD6330 user manual will be accurate.

Seperate Playlists

Use Windows Media Player to create the playlist, and then transfer them to the player by dragging the entire folder to the sync window, instead of dragging all of the files within the playlist to the window.

Big problem with play lists

According to the manual for most GoGear's, you have to have automatic synchronization enabled in Windows Media Player for the playlists to transfer correctly.I still have not been able to verify if this is true, since I have been able to transfer playlists fine with and without auto-sync engaged.

I haven't tried a 3115 specifically, but with an SA4111 and an SA5125, I just created the playlist in Windows Media Player 11, right clicked on the playlist name after it was created, selected "Add to Sync List," and then "Start Sync" with GoGear connected. I used this method, because it seemed more likely to add the songs AS A PLAYLIST rather than just dragging and dropping the tracks WITHIN the playlist.

As I look more closely at the documentation for the SA3115, however, it does not have the same playlists options as other GoGear's - it seems to limit you to Playlist-on-the-Go. I know that the GoGear will not recognize folders that you create in Windows Explorer, so that option is out. You can connect the GoGear, and see if a Playlists folder appears in the left-hand pane underneath the icon of the GoGear in the Sync tab. My gut feeling, however, is that this player is just not as equipped as other GoGear models for playlist transfer. I'll go back to the lab on tuesday and see if I can find anything new.

You will have to delete the playlist, change the items you want to change in Windows Media Player, and then re-load the playlist onto the GoGear.

No playlist found

One of the pesky features of windows Media Player is that if you delete the song/playlist from the computer's harddrive, and then resync your device to that same computer, then oftentimes the song/playlist disappears. Reacquire the song/playlist, and then try resyncing to the goGear again.
