Question about Dryers
I assume the dryer is running but not heating at all. If that is the case, then at least one of the components in the heating circuit has failed. The most common component that fails in the heating circuit is the thermal cut-off. It blows open when the high-limit thermostat malfunctions.
Disconnect power then remove the rear panel. Test the continuity of all heating circuit components on the blower housing and on the heater housing including the heating element. Replace the component that reads open but it is highly recommended to replace the other components where the open component is found.
You can bypass the components EXCEPT the heating element if you don't have a tool for testing continuity. Simply join together the wires of each components one at a time then reconnect power and start the dryer. Continuity bypassing the other components EXCEPT the heating element until the dryer heats up. Make sure power is disconnected each time you bypass a component. It is likely that the heating element is busted if the dryer still fails to heat up after all the components, EXCEPT the heating element, are bypassed.
Indicate the exact model number of the dryer should you need further help. You don't have to accept, reject, or rate this solution to add information or, post comments and follow-up questions. If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.
