Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Well, I posted my problem which is a Superba Dryer that is not drying again! It is 9 years old and we have had this problem before. The thing is I can't remember what the repairman did, but it was super simple and since you guys haven't responded, I'm gonna have to have him out again on Monday. All the while my laundry is piling up. Just wish someone, anyone would have responded! Boooo!

I assume the dryer is running but not heating at all. If that is the case, then at least one of the components in the heating circuit has failed. The most common component that fails in the heating circuit is the thermal cut-off. It blows open when the high-limit thermostat malfunctions.

Disconnect power then remove the rear panel. Test the continuity of all heating circuit components on the blower housing and on the heater housing including the heating element. Replace the component that reads open but it is highly recommended to replace the other components where the open component is found.

You can bypass the components EXCEPT the heating element if you don't have a tool for testing continuity. Simply join together the wires of each components one at a time then reconnect power and start the dryer. Continuity bypassing the other components EXCEPT the heating element until the dryer heats up. Make sure power is disconnected each time you bypass a component. It is likely that the heating element is busted if the dryer still fails to heat up after all the components, EXCEPT the heating element, are bypassed.

Indicate the exact model number of the dryer should you need further help. You don't have to accept, reject, or rate this solution to add information or, post comments and follow-up questions. But accepting the solution will not stop you from communicating with the expert. You may continue communicating with the expert as long as you need assistance regarding the issue stated herein.

Dryer is not heating enough to dry the clothes. It is 9 years old, is it better to just invest in a new dryer?

After 9 years you are going to need to replace some parts. If the ignitor works and the flame sensor is shutting down the gas but the flame stops after a while or not at all then them cols need to be replaced. themobilian_2331.jpgthemobilian_2332.jpgthemobilian_2333.jpg

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

My electric Whirlpool clothes dryer (model #LER 5636EQ3) about 9 years old, will not dry a load of clothes in just one cycle. I have to dry some things 2 or 3 times before the clothes are dry. I clean out...

Check your electrical power going to the dryer at where you plug the plug in at the receptical. and make sure you have 120 volts on each leg, it sounds like you may have one leg with 120 volt and the other leg with no voltage. I hope this helped. Please rate me, Thanks

9 yr old Kenmore 90 series dryer wont heat

is it gas ? next time open dryer door and send full model number if it heats for a while you have bad gas coils, when you change them out watch out for the coil with three prongs on it,there is a metal piece that sometime gets stuck in old coil when you remove it,if it happens just poke it out of old coil and slide it back on post where new coil will be installed

Maytag atlantis takes hours to dry one load.

Most common problem is something blocking the venting process, either somewhere in the vent tube itself,,, or somewhere in the venting system inside the dryer, like maybe the blower fan.

Yes it is, you can bypass it for testing purposes only, also clean out your vent too the outside it is probably clogged that is what usually blows them out.
