Question about Refrigerators
A popping sound is a normal sound on frost free refrigerators. A burning smell could indicate a lot of things, a dust build up on the compressor. In your case, since the light went out, it is possible that an electrical wire got damaged.
I suggest to get have a technician check this for your for your own safety.
