No, get a new fan, it is the bearings that fail.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 fan stopped

The fan is probably stuck possibly because of dust or the fan is broken, you can purchase a cheap heatsink / fan from a retailer, or actually it may be easier and cheaper to just purchase a new videocard, they cost a little bit more than a fan. If you don't need anything better than a GT240.

You might try blowing it out with compressed air.

Usually that means the fan needs to be replaced, though. Sorry.

It sounds like the shutdown is due to the card overheating. Does your card have a fan on it? If so that is probably where the buzzing noise came from. The fan either broke or is disconnected and thus the card is overheating. Try blowing out the fan with compressed air and making sure it is properly connected. If it is broken or you have no fan you may need to order a replacement fan or heat sync to fix your problem or get a new video card.

My suggestion is when was the last time you took the side cover off your computer to check the fan on your video card. It sounds like the card is heating up and causing the computer to shut down. You can try blowing out the fan with air to make sure it doesnt have some larges peices of dust/dirt or that the fan isnt worn out. If the computer keeps running with the side cover off that would confirm an over heating problem with the computer. While you have the side cover off blow out the whole machine especially the power supply. Computers are dust magnets. While your using the computer if you have a video game that is graphics intensive run it and keep your eye on the fan of your video card to see if it stops turning at any point.I would also look really hard at the fan or fans on your computers processor to see if it is spinning freely. When your blowing out your computer with air blow air on the fans of your processor to make sure it has no dirt in it and it is spinning freely. If after 30 minutes your computer continues to run with the side cover off then either its time for a new video card or a new fan on your processor. Because one or the other is worn out.

I hope this helps you out.

Why does my laptop keep turning off in middle of programme

Your laptop could be overheating, due to dust buildup in the fan. You can try some compressed air to blow out the dust that builds up, over time, in the fan. I also use a small fan I bought at Walmart, and let it blow over the fan area (you will be able to tell where it is by feeling the computer, and noticing it to be hotter in one area than others). You didn't mention what program it's turning off in the middle of, and, as a last resort, you might have to reinstall that program, if cleaning the fan with compressed air doesn't work. Good luck, and hope this helps.

System works without issue but the fans are extremely loud now. the fans actually get louder the longer the system is on.

the problem is your PS3 is now stuffed up inside with dust. mostly the cooling fins will be full of dust so making the fan work harder than usual to keep it cool inside.

to correct this you can open the unit up and clean the fins with a brush and till be like new again. but if you aren't very savvy in this area, then I would say purchase a small can of compressed air, they can be purchased from most main stream computer and electronics shops, the idea being with the air being very compressed, when you blow it inside of the PS3 vents is blows out the dust using much more force than your lungs could use.

this works very well in most cases.

I would say not to use this if your PS3 has just been on as the compressed air is VERY cold and if your PS3 is very hot inside you will cause rapid cooling and crack your motherboard. so make your ps3 has been OFF for at least 30mins before using compressed air.

Hope this helps you.

How to open tower fan to clean it

Use compressed air to blow the dust etc. out of the unit.  You can purchase a  can of compressed air from Home Depot or Lowes, or Google "compressed air in a can."  Just make sure you clean the unit outside to keep the dust etc. out of your home.

Aspire 9500 just shuts off

Maybe it needs cleaning for better ventilation or the CPU fan may be faulty. You will need to have those checked.
