Hi good day, your sound device is not properly installed. Check at the control panel, then go to the sounds, speech and audio device. If there is no audio device installed and then therefore you have to installed the audio driver for it.

Check in control panel and if your audio devices are grayed out then all you need to do is download your drivers. check your speakers on another system or check another set of speakers on your system (make sure they are connected properly). Always check for viruses, spyware, malware, etc. Usually it's a driver issue. Go to your manufacturer's website (i.e.,, etc. and download your drivers and reboot your machine. Have fun!

Mpcheeseman it wont ever turn my cd on now so i cant boot from it

Oh--now I understand. You are using the restore disks for your computer.
It sounds like you did the correct thing, but try this:
Do the whole thing over. After the last disk is finished and it wants you to restart the computer, remove the disk from the drive and see if it boots OK. It almost sounds like you were told to reboot the computer and when it started it asked you to press any key to boot from the CD and you did. Don't do that--just let it go on its own. Let us know what happens.

My acer 1642WLMi has lost it's sound completely.dvd,mp3 and audio files play with no sound.this problem started after i tried to run windows xp on ma laptop.after windows xp was installed in ma laptop,it...

Check the sound is not muted. (Click on speaker icon at the bottom right of your screen. Move the slider all the up with your mouse. Ensure the small box is cleared)
Also, right click on computer on the start menu and select hardware tab, and open the device manager. Look for sound device and right click on that. Check the drivers are ok for the sound chip you have. You may go to the Acer website if you can, locate support for your model and download and install fresh drivers for your OS if they can be found. Reply here if you try that and don't know how.
You may try an external speaker / headphones connected to appropriate socket on the back of your computer if it's a desktop. If you hear sound it might be that the internal speaker has gone wrong (does your computer give one beep when you turn it on ? this is telling you most things are ok including your sound system. Open a cmd window and type 'beep' the computer should beep I think)

there are many other things it might be, and more if you don't have the as-purchased set-up, but that's enough for now

Broken sound from aspire 7720

Go to the control panel and make sure it is in classic view. (click "Classic View") Open sound. You will see the sound card. Select it. Click the SET AS DEFAULT button. Click OK and then just to make sure, reboot the computer.

With XP: You need to do similar things but not the exact same thing.
Open control panel. Same as Vista, make sure its in the classic view > Open Sounds and Audio Devices > Click the audio tab > Use the drop down to select the correct card for your playback > Be sure to check the box that says use only default devices. (its in the lower left) > Click OK > Try your sound.
If it doesn't work, try restarting the computer.
If the sound card and software are installed correctly, and you have the speakers plugged in the right way, the sound should work.

Hey, i have a problem with the sound.i have adi sound card and the sound is scratchy and distored very noisy it i reinstaled the drivers but it is the same thing the sound is still in...

Sounds like you need a new sound card, also try to change speakers or test them in a other computer. I should test a other soundcard in the computer and if its sound OK then change it.

There is no sound to my computer

wow...okay this can all be resolved if u uninstall and reinstall the driver... easiest way however if the speed of the computer is that important to you u have to revert the steps and add more ram to the computer and disable certain things on the startup menu instead of disabling sound..disable things like messenger progams and torrent programs and music programs from starting at the beginning not necessary things like sound....

Simply no sound from PC

Check if you have plugged in the stereo pin to the right port on the PC.
Open sound control (in control panel) and check if the both speaker(main volume) and the wave volume sliders are not set to the lowest.
