Volume icon missing

Which operating system ??

In Windows and on a Mac, you can use an icon shaped like an audio speaker to adjust the computer's volume or mute the sound output completely.

Whichever operating system you are running, it is possible to remove the volume icon from the screen.

Click the "System Preferences" icon on the dock.
If you have removed this icon from the dock, click the Apple icon at the top of the screen, then click "System Preferences."

Click the "Sound" icon in the "System Preferences" window.

I was deleting things in add remove hardware and now my logitech x 240 speakers have stopped working, i also had a yellow ? appear in device management but i have downloaded something that seems to have...

There are two possibilities here which may be causing your problem.

Either you have not gone back in and enabled sounds in the control panel or you need to reinstall the speakers in the hardware manger and set the options to use them. That is "if" you have not deleted your sound card drivers?

to enable sounds, go to control pane, and then sounds and double click on it. Check to see if there is a sound sceme chosen (i.e. windows default). If there is no sceme chosen and its greyed out, click on the arrow and choose windows default and save it. It will tell you that your previous sceme may be lost if not saved first and ignore that warning - just continue.

Click the test option next to the sceme chosen and see if you can hear it?

If not, then continue troubleshooting and move to the next possible problem which is reinstallation of your speakers through the hardware manager.

Go to the control panel and find install a device or hardware manager (depending on which version of windows you are using). click on it. Windows will try and find the device you wish to install, if it locates the speakers then great just follow the prompts until installed. Then make sure the sound it turned on as indicated above and your done!

If it does not auto find the speakers you want to install, change the options to locate the item you wish to install yourself. Scroll the manufacturers drivers that came with your version of windows and find Logitech and the type of speakers you have which you want to install.

then follow the prompts to install the speakers. You might want to go back into the sounds icon in your control panel and check the optional tabs to make sure the type of audio device you are using is also the chosen default in your pc. (i.e. headphones, desktop speakers, or surround sound system ect.)

How to hook-up speakers to xp7

Here is the solution for you. Please follow the below steps and fix your problem.

1 . Click on the "Start" globe or button and then the "Control Panel" label. The Control Panel main screen will display on your monitor. Click on the "Hardware and Sound" link.

2 . Click the "Manage Audio Devices" link in the "Sound" section on the Control Panel screen. The "Sound" configuration window will then open.

3 . Click the "Speakers" label under the "Playback" tab. Click the "Configure" button to open the "Speaker Setup" configuration window and select the "Stereo" option. Click the "Next" button.

4 . Enable the "Front Left and Right" option box by clicking the check box. Once the check mark appears in the box, click both small speaker icons to test the sound from the speakers. You should hear sound from the two right speakers when you click the speaker icon labeled "R," and the two speakers on the left should produce sound when you click the icon labeled "L."

5 . Click the "Next" button and then the "Finish" button to complete the speaker setup.

6 . Adjust the volume by clicking on the speaker icon near the time and date area in the task bar. Use the slider control to adjust the volume to the desired level.

Thanks.

I ACCIDENTLY DELETED MY VOLUME ON MY COMPUTER HOW DO I FIX IT

Do you mean that you deleted the icon in the notification area? What OS do you have? In Windows 7, right click on the up arrow in the Notification area. Click on Customize notification icons. In the older versions of Windows, I believe you can do something similar there or in the Control Panel.

If you did something to the hardware driver, check the control Panel (Hardware and Sounds > Sounds in Win 7) or the Device Manager (also in the Hardware section).

I hope this helps.

(Macs probably have similar customization options but I do not recall how to set them.)

I dont see speaker ikon on the toolbar

Hello...
Full details about sound issue in my website...
www.sureshayyar.110mb.com (Support page)

As an alternative u can do this (i am using this solution till date)

If u cant install the sound driver correctly, just buy a " USB Sound Adaptor" and connect it to the USB port and connect the speaker sound jack to the sound port in this adaptor....u will get back the sound....also keep in mind that u " may " have to disable onboard sound in BIOS, u may also have to make changes in the Control Panel / Sound and Audio Devices / Audio Tab / Sound Playback option... Click the drop down button and select the "USB Audio Devices/Headset"

You can get it in Ebay for $1 to $4 or google it to locate a place near u......

This is the one i am refering to(I bought it in Ebay for 1$)....u can buy something similar also....there are many available mfd from China, just plug and play on your USB port....

If you find this solution useful please leave a feedback and rating to this solution.

Regards....
All the best, my dear friend....

No sound

1. Are your speakers turned on and plugged into the correct jack on your sound card?

2. Is your sound card recognized by your OS?
In Windows, press the Windows Key+Pause/Break to bring up the System Properties page.
CLICK on the Hardware tab, then Device Manager.
Is there a yellow exclamation point under the "Sound, video and game controllers" subheading? If so, you will need to either install/reinstall the sound card's driver or resolve a device conflict. Walk through the options on the device's Properties page.

3. If your speakers are on and your sound card is working properly (as reported by Device Manager), it could simply be that your sound is muted. Open the Control panel (Start>Control Panel)
Open the "Sounds and Multimedia" icon.
Verify the "Show volume control on the taskbar" checkbox is checked. If this option is not available or is grayed out, see below.
If you were able to check this box, click ok and close out of this window and the Control Panel.
Double-click the sound icon in the systray and verify that all the sound volumes are mid-way or higher.

4. If Windows thinks your Sound card is working properly, your speakers are on and turned up and Windows' software volume control is turned up, go back to Device Manager and Highlight your Sound Card. Press the Delete key on your keyboard and confirm that you do indeed want to remove this device.

Reboot. If your Sound card is functional, Windows will redetect it and offer to install the drivers for it. You may need your original Windows CD to complete this step.
