My Northstar 567 GPS will not pick up any satellites. All connections and wiring are ok, I have had it for approx 2 years now. When you go into the Satellites link under display it says No GPS.

Gps singal lost

Often, when your GPS is in a "covered" area ... e.g. inside a building, in a tunnel, under a bridge, amongst / under tall buildings, etc... when there is no open space (directly) between your GPS and the satellites, your GPS will loose its satellite signals. If you're in such locations, try to find some "open space" and wait a bit for the signals to be picked up again.
Another common reason why the GPS doesn't get signals, or doesn't get the signals quickly, is because the "latest" satellite positions (locations) have not been updated in your GPS. If/when you connect your GPS to your computer (e.g. using HOME ) and download the GPS satellite (QuickFix) location information, your GPS will have the most recent locations of the satellites in your vicinity/region. With this information, your GPS can pick up the signals more quickly ... instead of having to search/scan around to find the signals ... which can take a bit more time. While your GPS is searching for the satellite signals, it shows the "signal lost" or "no GPS signal" message.

I have a Northstar 6000i that will not display the tide track information. It has for 3 years, and now has a message stating that it can't display the information for the current date.

Probably the data didn't go past 2010. I have a Northstar 951XD, and first time out this year, no more tide track data - my manual says it only went fron 1994 - 2010. So how to get updates?

At first it was giving me a (time to update map msg) now it won't pick up a satellite signal at all

1st go to Setup and make sure you have all options the way you want it.
To lock in satellite connection, make sure your device has an unobstructed "view" to the skies... no trees, ceilings, etc. A dashboard window is OK. Give it time. Sometimes it is 5 minutes (while driving around), other times its 1 min. CHeck Setup that it is not Simulating GPS - Turn it OFF.

My northstar explorer 538 is not picking up signal were i am. what i can do to fix the problem

the northstar 538 does not have an inbuilt aerial (that is the 538i). You need to attach a compatible aerial and then you will be fine.

Igo sat nav cant get gps signal ,it was working fine untill november 2009,now it does not pick up gps signal

The mosdt common reason for non connection is low battery power. The battery lasts approx 2 years and may not be charging correctly. Try changing to a new battery.

Second reason is that it is not on the right port, consult manual for your model and set it to its correct port and BAUD rate.

Finally if you have started the enginbe with it connected to the 12v car outlet you may have damaged the chip.

I had the same problem. Found this link

http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=144134

As suggested at the end of the above thread I left my unit outside for a couple of hours and it suddenly sprang into life. Now it reliably gets a fix in 2 to 3 minutes when I switch it on.

My theory is that because it is only a 2 channel unit it takes hours to acquire a fix when the memory is blank.

The manual says it will keep it's memory for a month without batteries.

So if you leave the batteries out for more than a month, or move it more than 250 miles and then switch it on expect it to take a while to first fix.

Otherwise it's a nice little unit.
