My plotter does not recognize always that a printer cartridge is seated and will print without cyan

I have a designjet 755CM HP plotter. I will try cleaning the contacts....That does sound like it could work....I did wipe them gently with a lint free cloth slightly damp....which didnt work. There is no error message given - It will print without the colour(s) in question...Just wrong colours because blue is not mixed in.....ie pink for blue - yellow for green. And it seems somewhat random..The blue doesnt work but when I reseat the blue and restart maybe the yellow doesnt work now either......irritating.

Thanks I will try cleaning the contacts.

A model # would help. HP makes cleaning kits for the majority of DesignJet plotters that includes a tool to clean the contacts in the carriage that holds the printheads. Other than that, you could try a chamois swab (I think you can still get them at Radio Shack) dipped in 91% isopropyl alcohol (shake of the excess) and try cleaning the contacts that the printhead comes in contact with. Oxidation and/or ink can cause a bad connection that gives you the no printhead error. Reply with the DJ model # & I will be happy to get you the cleaning kit part #. Here is link for to the cleaning kit for the DJ 330, 350C, 430, 450, 455CA and 700.

Epson ink cartridges, always empty?

Epson has gone to great pains to ensure that third-party cartridges dont work. They really did a good job. Sometimes their printers wont even recognize genuine Epson cartridges. I saw a CX8400 with a brand new cartridge claim it was out of cyan ink after printing one 4 x 6 photo. Then it would recognize any cyan cartridge. It had to go back to Epson for replacement. It displays either code 59.51 or10.92.02 not engadged

It's likely either a bad Cyan cartridge or ribbon cable pinched. This is what I found on DepotTechSupport (so the solution isn't mine, just the searching) :-)

59.51, 59.61 ERROR
http://depottechsupport.com/index.php?/Troubleshooter/Step/View/8

59.51 ERROR 59.61 ERROR An error occurred with the cyan printcartridge drive motor during startup or rotation. 1. Check that connectors J5004 on the cyan print-cartridge drive motor and J207 on the driver PCA are seated correctly. 2. Replace the cyan print-cartridge drive motor. 3. Replace the driver PCA

10.92.YY CARTRIDGES NOT ENGAGED
10.92.YY CARTRIDGES NOT ENGAGED The print cartridges are not engaged correctly. YY Description: 00 Black 01 Cyan 02 Magenta 03 Yellow 1. Open and then close the front door. 2. Make sure all the print cartridges are seated correctly. 3. Turn the printer off and then on. 4. Inspect each cartridge lock-lever (on the right side). Open the front door and remove all cartridges and the ETB. Then use the ETB holder on the right side to move the lock-levers up and down. Replace the cartridge lock if it is broken. 5. Inspect the right side cam. This piece controls the movement of the cartridge engagement arm, the cartridge shutters, and the OPC drive. You can inspect this piece without taking off the covers by wiggling the white rod arm on the right side of the ETB. If it moves easily, the part is broken and should be replaced. 6. Inspect the ribbon cables. Folded or damaged ribbon cables can cause a short that generates an error. 7. Inspect the cartridge guide rails to see if any are damaged. 8. Upgrade the DC controller firmware. 9. Clean the contacts on the memorycontroller PCA. 10. Verify that contact is being made with the E-label PCA on the print cartridge. Replace the print cartridge if the Elabel PCA is missing. 11. On the DC controller, make sure that connectors J1022 and J1023 are seated correctly. On the driver PCA, make sure that connectors J201 and J401 are seated correctly. 12. Check the gears on the print-cartridge drive motors. Replace defective motors.

Hp c6180 states cartridges missing or damaged

OK now this might seem bizarre, but did you go ahead and click the "Black Only" print option?

I have a C6180. Just installed all new cartridges. Tried to print and got the message that Cyan is empty. Tried all sorts of things. Then out of frustration clicked the Black Onl option. Document came out printed in color! Double checked with a picture that has lots of cyan colors. It all printed too! Go figure.

Hello my 7590 printer will not print in cyan

The chances are you have a defective cyan ink cartridge. If you are using an aftermarket/reloaded cartridge and the cartridge chip is defective. First try a new cartridge. The best bet is a new OEM cartridge, run the deep cleaning utility 3 times. The nozzle may be clogged and this will clean the nozzle.
Aftermarket/reloaded cartridges ink do not always meet the specifications for the printers that use the finer inks.
Let me know if this works for you. Thanks.

Cyan ink discharge at the back of the ink crtrige.

The leak is from the cyan ink cartridge or from the connections in the ink tube system. Replace the ink cartridge first. If that does not fix the problem, replace the ink tube system.

My cyan cartridge shows as empty. My black

No. You need all the cartridges installed with functioning chips for your printer to work. The reason why you need all the colors when all you print is black is because a small amount of color prints when you print black. The manufacturers want to make up their R&D costs on the printers by selling lots of expensive ink.

Why does my IPF700 plotter print cyan lines on the whole print?

Are you using the correct drivers? If the answer is yes you either have a bad (or dirty) printer or, a bad ink cartridge.

Plotter only printing in Cyan

Check your black cartridge. Do the pump the cartridge thing with the plunger on the left of the plotter. Check all the electrical connectors on the cariage and the cartridge - clean with water -or wd40 if you are very careful and check that all the contacts, about 40 of them are clean and undamaged on each cartridge. Replace with known working cartridges. run a color test as specified in the manual -- hp has relased the manual for this printer as they no longer service this unit.

Printer won't recognize ink cartridge

I had the same problem with the yellow cartridge.   At first when I resinserted it, it would solve the problem, but today even that didn't work.

I did solve the problem by clearing all print jobs, turning the printer off and then on, and then running a cleaning cycle on the color nozzles.   I don't know why this fixed things, but my yellow was suddenly recognized without any further fiddling.
