Welcome to the world of useless HP resident exe files.
The only problem with that file is so many anti-virus softwares treat it as totally evil and there by gives you no end of grief. If you have no anti-virus software then it doesn't conflict with anything. But when you go to protect your HP product...problems occur. You would think that something that is designed to kill windows Terminate and Stay Resident programs (TSR that have no visual clue they are running in the background of the system) is a good thing until everything conflicts with it.

If you do not eliminate killwind MacAfee will continue to give problems.

Mcafee proxy service not working

Run the MSCPRXFIX.EXE tool
NOTE: You cannot use this tool if a proxy server is authenticating you. In this case, go to http://us.mcafee.com and reinstall VirusScan to get the latest signature files.
  1. Download the tool from: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MSCPRXFIX.exe.
  2. Double-click MSCPRXFIX.exe.
  3. After running the tool, restart your computer.
  4. To check for updates, right-click the M icon in the system tray and select Updates.

I have bought mcafee cd from the store and after i restarted the computer my computer freezes at the windows xp screen. how do i fix this?

Hi
I know this may sound childish but the answer right now is to remove Mcafee. Do this by going into SAFE mode. Press F8 while the computer is rebooting. Once at the SAFE menu select SAFE mode with networking. Once into SAFE mode goto START, Control Panel, Programs and Features. From there uninstall Mcafee. I had you go to the network mode because now you will need to download the Mcafee uninstall tool. This will remove the remaining pieces of Mcafee. Once all this is done go to normal mode and please check to make sure you don't have any other anti virus programs installed - these will definitely mess with Mcafee. If there are no other anti virus programs installed I have to assume it was a virus or malware that interfered with your Mcafee install. Unless you have them already I would suggest you download and then run these programs AVGFREE.exe, MALWAREBYTES.exe and SUPERANTISPYWARE.exe. You can download these from www.download.com. Once these are completed, we know your system is clean, now run the Mcafee install and everything should work fine. Good luck

I am trying to install new security software having uninstalled Mcafee but am getting a message that Mcafee anti virus file system filter driver is still installed. I dont think that it is but am obvoiusly...

Download the program "Revo Uninstaller" from www.download.com it is a free program that searches out every little nit of a programs existance and snuffs it out. One of the best programs I've seen for uninstalling retail garbage. When you install it and run it. It will give you a listing of all programs currently on the machine, highlight the one you want to get rid of and click on uninstall. Choose option (4), this will search the registry and get rid of everything. The original programs uninstaller will run first, let it do its thing even if it fails, hit ok and Revo will take over from there. Do not let the original program reboot, click no and continue with the Revo program. Click yes to get rid of everything each time you are asked. When it is finished it will tell you.

Savedump.exe error

Hi there
Savedump.exe is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. The file is a Windows core system file. The program has no visible window. savedump.exe is a Microsoft signed file. Therefore the technical security rating is 4% dangerous.
Some malware camouflage themselves as savedump.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder. Thus check the savedump.exe process on your pc whether it is pest. I recommend Security Task Manager for verifying your computer's security.

If you want to get the full potential of 64bit processor then you will have install XP X64 and yes i'm sure SP3 will install.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

RemAdm-PSKill is detected as a potentially harmful file by McAfee

It sounds bad, lol, here is wht you should do, go over to the AVG site, http://www.avg.com/, get either the free version or a trial on the home version, they have a version 8 that works great and is free, download it, then run your machine in safe mode, run the avg in safe mode and let it run it's course. if the program is a virus or trogen, it will be removed, safe mose is tap the f8 key as the machine starts into boot mode, tap, don't hold it down just tap it like a piano key, Good Luck
