Welcome to the world of useless HP resident exe files.
The only problem with that file is so many anti-virus softwares treat it as totally evil and there by gives you no end of grief. If you have no anti-virus software then it doesn't conflict with anything. But when you go to protect your HP product...problems occur. You would think that something that is designed to kill windows Terminate and Stay Resident programs (TSR that have no visual clue they are running in the background of the system) is a good thing until everything conflicts with it.

If you do not eliminate killwind MacAfee will continue to give problems.

Dcom errorat startup

These DCOM error messages are benign, and you can ignore them. Do not change your DCOM settings to prevent these error messages from being logged. If you do so, you may harm your system badly

Can't download mcafee

- the reason why you can't download and install Mcafee is because most likely you have a previous installation of it.

- If that's the case, do this steps:

Step 1 - Uninstall your McAfee consumer products using Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel Windows 2000/XP
  1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Select the McAfee SecurityCenter product.
  4. Click Remove and follow the steps provided.
Windows Vista
  1. Click Start, Search, type Programs and Features, and click Go.
  2. Double-click Programs and Features.
  3. Select the McAfee SecurityCenter product.
  4. Click Uninstall and follow the steps provided.
Step 2 - Download and run MCPR.exe
  1. Download the removal tool from: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe
  2. Click Save and save the file to a folder on your computer.
  3. Navigate to the folder where the file was saved.
  4. Make sure all McAfee windows are closed.
  5. Double-click MCPR.exe to run the removal tool.

NOTE: Windows Vista users must right-click MCPR.exe and select Run as Administrator.
  6. Restart your computer after receiving the message CleanUp Successful.
Your McAfee product will not be fully removed until the system is restarted.

Since I installed McAfee Totel Protection I have lost my exe. files, so I can not load programs up normally. I have to go to a file and open it up through explorer or my documents. I tried getting help...

It seems that your computer was infected by Virus which had affected some exe files. After installing McAfee, it removed those infected exe files due to which you are facing this issue. You may try a system restore to fix this issue, else you need to reinstall the Operating System.

I am trying to install new security software having uninstalled Mcafee but am getting a message that Mcafee anti virus file system filter driver is still installed. I dont think that it is but am obvoiusly...

Download the program "Revo Uninstaller" from www.download.com it is a free program that searches out every little nit of a programs existance and snuffs it out. One of the best programs I've seen for uninstalling retail garbage. When you install it and run it. It will give you a listing of all programs currently on the machine, highlight the one you want to get rid of and click on uninstall. Choose option (4), this will search the registry and get rid of everything. The original programs uninstaller will run first, let it do its thing even if it fails, hit ok and Revo will take over from there. Do not let the original program reboot, click no and continue with the Revo program. Click yes to get rid of everything each time you are asked. When it is finished it will tell you.

Follow the instructions to remove and re-install McAfee.

Svchost.exe

svchost.exe is apart of windows. It sounds like your system was infected. When you install security on a system thats not healthy, the infection can compromise and corrupt your new security causing it to not work correctly, or show false positives.

Mcafee and CA both aren't that great. I recommend the paid edition of Malwarebytes and AVG. Both work much better then CA, Mcafee, Norton, etc.. just to name a few.

At this point your going to need to get the system healthy. This is the dangerous part I recommend letting a professional help you, because remvoing infections can cause data loss and you risk making the system even worse. I recommend NickLockard.com
